The textbook, “Elementary Harmony, Theory and Practice” by Robert Ottmann and the accompanying workbook; basic worksheets on pre-concepts as needed; computer drills on Theory Games; Concepts include pitch on the staff and keyboard; scales; key signatures; terminology; staff spellings; clefs; half steps and whole steps; scale degree names; major and minor scales; intervals; chords; correct staff notation; consonance and dissonance in music; early pitch notation; note and rest values; time signatures; simple and compound beats; triplets, duplets and quadruplets; tonic and dominant harmony. |
