Students prepare solos or participate in a small ensemble; vocal production technique; blend, balance; Memorization; Preparation for final performances; Increase knowledge of vocal literature from various historical periods

Participation in the IHSA Solo and ensemble contest in March;

Receiving rating at same; process evaluation to include preparation and follow through;

Students not participating will do research paper on music topic TBA

Work on preparing for festival and spring concert performances

Finalize and continue preparation for festival trip performance and/or organization contest performance in April; prepare extra music for spring concert in May;   Work on 3 festival pieces---one in accapella style; and all 3 from different composers, styles and historical periods; each piece to showcase various strengths of the group.  The same music to be used at IHSA contest if we participate; additional light music to be added for spring concert

Participation in performances listed.  Trip performance is not required; however contest is required if the group participates.  Concert performance is required.

 

Singing test on the music listed.
