Organization of classroom routines; introduction to 5th grade music text;  review of music instruments to prepare for beginning band; study of Ludwig van Beethoven; singing as an ensemble; study of American Folk music; music score reading; review of music notation and staff reading; continuation of Music Ace program based on individual student’s progress; auditions for young student roles in hs production of the Music Man

Music Textbook with study of music indicative of the railroads, shipping industry, the old west and the gold rush; The Music Composer Series and other listening and written materials for the study of Beethoven; Music Instrument Jingo  and A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten for review of instruments; worksheets for the review of music notation; study of music in our everyday lives; Music Express for score reading and listening examples; pick up Music Ace where the student stopped in 4th grade; auditions for Amaryllis and Winthrop in the hs production of the Music Man, plus other townsperson roles
