reception, bridal shower, wedding shower, graduation party, Christmas party or
family reunion????? Reservations
are now being accepted for the St. Mary Parish Center in Valmeyer (now under construction) for
events planned June, 2008 and later.
Call 935-2400 and leave a voice message or send an email to parishcenter@stmaryvalmeyer.org. The reservationist will respond with more
information on bookings.
ICE CREAM – YOU SCREAM – WE ALL
SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM - - - - - Sunday evening, June 22, Troop 345
invites Cub Pack 345 and all Scout age youth interested in the Scouting program
in Valmeyer for Ice Cream at the American Legion beginning at 7:00 p.m. Troop 345 will recognize the Scouts who
attended Camp Joy as well. There will be
fun and games for all Scout-age youth, both Cub and Boy Scouts. Jon Nelzen, Kaskaskia District Exec, and
Jeane Scott, Kaskaskia District Commissioner will join and share some valuable
info on scouting. This event is also an
important event for parents – bring your Scout or scout age youth and hang
around for some sweet treats. If you
have any questions, contact Troop 345 Scoutmaster, Rick Roever.
The Valmeyer Village Board of Trustees has authorized
the formation of a committee to begin planning festivities and events for the Centennial
of the Village to be
celebrated during 2009. Anyone
interested in serving on that committee should contact Laurie Brown, Village
Clerk.
Valmeyer will be serving as a IEPA Household Hazardous Waste Collection site on Saturday, June
7. The site will be set up on the
location of the former Schneider’s Store parking lot on Lake Street in the
original part of town. The event is
being locally sponsored by the Monroe-Randolph Bi-County Health Department and
the Valmeyer High School Science Club.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS INCLUDE: oil based paints, used motor oil, herbicides,
insecticides, pesticides, old gasoline, pool chemicals, cleaning products,
mercury, medicines, household batteries, paint thinners, lawn chemicals,
solvents, antifreeze, hobby chemicals, aerosol paints and pesticides, fluorescent
lamp bulbs and drain cleaners. PLEASE DO
NOT BRING LATEX PAINTS. UNACCEPTABLE
ITEMS INCLUDE: Agricultural wastes,
business or commercial sector wastes, explosives, fireworks, lead acid
batteries, propane tanks, smoke detectors, farm machinery oil, fire
extinguishers, or institutional wastes. Watch for future announcements of the scheduled times for this
event on this date.
BLUE WATER POOLS IS COMING TO
TOWN . . . Starting this
Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Blue Water Pools will set up shop on
the Emergency Services Building parking lot and have for sale chemicals,
supplies and accessories for swimming pools.
Blue Water Pools will return on May 24 and 31, as well as on June 7, 14
and 21. Additional dates after June 21
are pending. For more information or to
