            SPECIAL THANKS FROM NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY ADVISOR KELLY ROWOLD . . . The American Red Cross and Valmeyer’s Chapter of the National Honor Society want to thank all the students, staff and community members who came out on February 25th to donate blood at Valmeyer High School.  60 productive units of blood were collected.  Special thanks also to MAR, American Nails in Waterloo, First Bank of Valmeyer, State Bank of Waterloo-Valmeyer Branch and the VHS Student Council for supporting our blood drive by donating food and attendance prizes.  Without the support of the students, staff, community members and businesses like you, the needs of patients in our area could not have been met.  Thanks again for all of your help.

 

The Valmeyer Music Boosters holding their annual Dinner / Auction / Theater event on Saturday, March 15 in the Valmeyer School Multi Purpose Room.  The theme for this year’s event is “WELCOME TO PIRATE ISLAND.”  The Committee is looking for items to be donated for the silent and live auction to be held in conjunction with that event.  If you’re looking for an idea – how about going together with family members and donating a themed-basket for the silent auction?  If you have any questions about auction donations, contact a committee member – Gayle McCarthy, Teena Riechmann or Zoe Ann Schwarze.

 

            St. John United Church of Christ will be hosting a Fish Fry at the Church on Friday, February 29 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.  They will have cod cut-ups and tilapia sandwiches or plates.  Plates include 2 sides (home-made potato salad, fries or slaw), a drink and homemade dessert.  You can dine in or carry out.

 

            The teachers and administration of Valmeyer School will be working at the Columbia McDonald’s for “McTeacher’s Night” on Tuesday, March 4th between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. to help raise money for the 2008 Post Prom.  See your favorite teacher / administrator working at McDonald’s and grab a bite to eat all for a good cause. . . . . Donations are still needed for the 2008 Post Prom.  If you would like to help out, contact Becky Karsten at 935-2100, extension 205 or by email at bkarsten@valmeyerk12.org.  Monetary donations will be accepted as well as donations of food and prizes.  The next Parent Meeting is February 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the Teacher’s Workroom at School.  Anyone interested is invited to attend!

           

The Knights of Columbus are having their “FIRST ANNUAL” Fish Fry on Friday, March 7 at the American Legion Home in Valmeyer.  They will be serving fish and sides from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.  They will also be making deliveries in town, so keep your eye out for order forms which will be available at area businesses the week before the Fish Fry.  For more information, contact Scott Roever at 935-2332.

            The Valmeyer Village Board of Trustees has authorized the formation of a committee to begin planning festivities and events for the Centennial of the Village to be celebrated during 2009.  Anyone interested in serving on that committee should contact Laurie Brown, Village Clerk.

            The Valmeyer Optimists are looking for a used 12 – 16 ft. long enclosed cargo trailer for storing and hauling all of their picnic supplies.  If you have one for sale, or know of one available contact Dave Henerfauth at 935-2354.

 

            Valmeyer High School Guidance announcements . . . . .
