VALMEYER KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION – The Valmeyer School District will hold its Annual Kindergarten Registration on Wednesday, April 9th from Noon to 6:00 p.m.  Please call 935-2100 for an appointment.  All students who are entering Kindergarten in the Fall must have an appointment to be registered.  Children must be at least 5 years old by September 1, 2003 to legally enter Kindergarten this August.  Please bring a COPY of your child’s birth certificate and a COPY of your child’s Social Security card.  These copies will be kept in your child’s permanent record – PLEASE BRING COPIES ONLY!  To schedule an appointment, call the Unit Office at 935-2100 by April 2nd.

 

POST PROM NEWS - - - On March 26 at 6:00 p.m., the Annual Obee’s Battle of the Post Proms Gutbuster Sandwich eating contest will be held on the Courthouse lawn across from Obee’s.  Come out and support the team from Valmeyer and wear your purple and gold.  Other teams competing will be from Waterloo, Gibault and Columbia High Schools.  Winners will receive money for their Post Prom events.  Valmeyer’s Post Prom will be on May 2nd, following the Junior-Senior Prom.

 

On April 5th, there will be a breakfast fundraiser at the Waterloo Applebee’s from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. to support the 2008 POST PROM.  The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students / children (ages 4-18).  You will get all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, bacon, OJ, milk and coffee.  Only 175 tickets are available, so please get your tickets in advance.  If any tickets are left, they will be sold at the door, but once the tickets are gone, no more will be sold at the door.  Please see a Post Prom committee member, or call Becky Karsten at 935-2100, extension 205 for tickets, or stop by the High School office.

 

VHS GUIDANCE NEWS - - - 8th grade Parent / Student Night will be held on March 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose room at School.   All 8th Graders and their parents are invited to attend this informational meeting about what to expect in High School and what courses to take.  Registration forms will be filled out for all students for their Freshman year.  Call Becky Karsten at 935-2100, extension 205 for questions.  All 8th graders should have received materials in the mail and should return the bottom portion of the letter to Mrs. Karsten as soon as possible.

OTHER IMPORTANT GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT NEWS . . . . .

March 14 – SIUE Rep will be at School at 11:45 a.m.

March 25 – McKendree University rep will be at School at 11:45 a.m.

April 9 – SWIC will be giving the ASSET test to any Senior planning to attend SWIC next year.

April 10 – U of I (Springfield campus) rep will be at School at 1:00 p.m.

April 14 – ASSET Test results given at 2:25 p.m. in the Library.

April 23-24 – All Juniors will take the Prairie State Achievement Exam (includes the ACT).

April 23 – All Freshmen will be taking the EXPLORE Test.

 

            The Valmeyer Village Board of Trustees has authorized the formation of a committee to begin planning festivities and events for the Centennial of the Village to be celebrated during 2009.  Anyone interested in serving on that committee should contact Laurie Brown, Village Clerk.
