are now being accepted for the St. Mary Parish Center in Valmeyer (now under construction) for
events planned June, 2008 and later.

information on bookings.
Marcia Braswell is cleaning out her
office and has found a lot of programs from past musicals. If you are interested in any of these
programs, please contact her at School before June 27th.
ICE CREAM – YOU SCREAM – WE ALL
SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM - - - - - Sunday evening, June 22, Troop 345
invites Cub Pack 345 and all Scout age youth interested in the Scouting program
in Valmeyer for Ice Cream at the American Legion beginning at 7:00 p.m. Troop 345 will recognize the Scouts who
attended Camp Joy as well. There will be
fun and games for all Scout-age youth, both Cub and Boy Scouts. Jon Nelzen, Kaskaskia District Exec, and
Jeane Scott, Kaskaskia District Commissioner will join and share some valuable
info on scouting. This event is also an
important event for parents – bring your Scout or scout age youth and hang
around for some sweet treats. If you

If you need a snack or drink
during any of the Valmeyer Youth Sports Association games held at the Valmeyer fields,
the Valmeyer PTO is at your service.
They will be selling those items, and the money raised by the PTO is
going toward the fencing project at the school to complete the fencing around the
playground. The PTO thanks you for your
support.
SUMMER 2008 YOUTH COOKING SCHOOL . .
. The Youth Cooking School is open to all youth ages 9 to 12 years old. The Valmeyer sessions will be held the week
of June 23-27 at the Valmeyer High School.
The morning session will be from 9 a.m. to Noon and the afternoon
session will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The fee is $50 per student. Other
sessions are available in Waterloo at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on the weeks
of July 7-11 and July 14-18. There will
be an Advanced Youth Cooking School session for ages 12-14 years old that have
previously attended an YCS session. The
Advanced session will be June 30-July 3 in Waterloo at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church with morning and afternoon sessions available. In the classes youth learn important life
skills such as how to make group decisions, safe use of small appliances, how
to prepare healthy foods, learn the importance of good exercise and how to work
cooperatively with others. Each day the
students prepare and enjoy several recipes.
Call the University of Illinois Extension – Monroe County office at
939-3434 to register for a week of fun cooking.
A NOTE TO RESIDENTS ABOUT OUR
STORM WARNING SYSTEM –
At this time we are using a manually operated siren in the center of the uphill
town area. At night when Monroe County
is included in severe weather / tornado warnings the siren will be
activated. During daylight hours trained
spotters will be used to watch for storms during severe weather periods. Please note that at this time the all clear
signal will not be given after a storm warning.
Research is underway at this point regarding the updating of the Village
storm warning system.
The Valmeyer Village Board of Trustees has authorized the formation of a committee to begin planning festivities and events for the Centennial of the Village to be celebrated during 2009. Anyone interested in serving on that committee should attend the next meeting of the group scheduled for Thursday, June 19 at the 7:00 p.m. at the Valmeyer Public Library.
BLUE WATER POOLS IS COMING TO
TOWN . . . This Saturday
from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Blue Water Pools will set up shop on the Emergency
Services Building parking lot and have for sale chemicals, supplies and
accessories for swimming pools. Blue
Water Pools will return on June 21.
Additional dates after June 21 are pending. For more information or to place an order for

NOVEMBER 1 – THE VALMEYER CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS FOR THE
FIRST ANNUAL “VALMEYER CENTENNIAL SPOOKTACULAR” – A Halloween Dance to be held at St. Mary Parish
Center with music by Fountain Creek Band.
Tickets will go on sale soon, so watch for the announcement.
