COMING THIS WEEK – St.
John Church will be hosting a FISH FRY on Wednesday, February 6th from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. Items available will include cod
cut ups and tilapia sandwiches or plates.
Plates include two side orders, a drink and dessert. You can dine in or carry out your meal.
The Valmeyer
Music Boosters holding their annual Dinner / Auction / Theater event on
Saturday, March 15 in the Valmeyer School Multi
Purpose Room. The theme for this year’s event is “WELCOME
TO PIRATE ISLAND.” They are looking for
items to be donated for the silent and live auction to be held in conjunction
with that event. If you’re looking for
an idea – how about going together with family members and donating a
themed-basket for the silent auction? If
you have any questions about auction donations, contact a committee member –
Gayle McCarthy, Teena Riechmann or Zoe Ann Schwarze.
TICKETS GO ON SALE MONDAY,
FEBRUARY 4TH FOR “WELCOME TO PIRATE ISLAND”. Tickets will be available at First Bank in Valmeyer,
Mike’s Convenience Store, Valmeyer Village Hall,
First National Bank in Waterloo and Valmeyer School. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with the silent
auction beginning at 5:00 p.m. The
evening will also include a costume contest, live auction, and induction of
members into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of
Fame. Entertainment for the evening
will be a Musical – “Pirate Island”.
Limited babysitting services are available – call Marcia Braswell or
Mike Alexander at School for details and to make reservations.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the Valmeyer Music Boosters Annual Fish Fry / Music Marathon on Friday, February 22 from
4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Valmeyer School multi
purpose room. Carryouts
will be available starting at 3:30 p.m.
Cod plates include two sides and dessert. Cod sandwiches, side orders, drinks and
dessert will also be available. High
School students will be performing music solos & ensemble selections. All proceeds benefit Valmeyer
School Music programs.
St. John United Church of
Christ Youth Group is selling Butter Braids and Cookie Dough as a Fund Raiser. The butter braids are $9.50 each and the
cookie dough is $12.50. All orders must
be placed by February 24th for delivery on March 2nd. To place an order contact
a Youth Group member, or Susan Unterseh, Youth Group
Advisor at 935-2370.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE
ZACK PAGE BENEFIT. Zack Page is the brother of
Hattie Doyle, Valmeyer High School Principal. He was diagnosed with Guillian
Barre Syndrome on October 25, 2007, and is now
undergoing rehabilitation. A Trivia
Night and Silent Auction has been scheduled for Friday, February 29 to help
raise funds to cover overwhelming medical bills the family has acquired. The benefit will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Valmeyer High School.
The cost of the trivia event is $10 per person with a maximum of 8
people per table. The silent auction
will take place during the trivia event.

At the most recent meeting of the Valmeyer Village Board, the Trustees authorized the
formation of a committee to begin planning festivities and events for the Centennial
of the Village to be
celebrated during 2009. Anyone
interested in serving on that committee should contact Laurie Brown, Village
Clerk.
Want to help out the School? Collect General Mills boxtops,
Campbells for Education labels and Nestle water
bottle labels and send them to School with your child or even with a neighbor
child or drop them off at the school office.
