            Thursday, November 22 – Thanksgiving Day – NO SCHOOL.

            Friday, November 23 – Thanksgiving Break – NO SCHOOL.

 

            The Waterloo and Valmeyer Lions Clubs cordially invite you to “Share the Feast” at SS. Peter and Paul School Cafeteria, 217 in Waterloo on Thanksgiving Day.  A traditional dinner will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  If you are unable to attend the Valmeyer Lions Club will deliver your dinner on Thanksgiving Day at Noon.  To arrange delivery please contact Paul Nottmeier at 935-2746 or Bob Mohr at 935-2309.

 

            REGULAR MEETING OF THE VALMEYER SENIOR CITIZENS – Wednesday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Emergency Services Building.

 

            A reminder to Valmeyer residents . . . on the first and third Thursday of each month, curbside recycling takes place in the Village.  Items can be co-mingled in your trash container, but should be kept separate from your regular trash on these pickup days.  Those items that can be recycled include glass, type 1 and 2 plastics, tin and aluminum cans.  If you have any questions about Village recycling, contact Village Hall.  Please take advantage of this service provide to you by the Village, and at the same time you will be doing your part to help our environment.

 

Looking for an ENTERTAINMENT BOOK.  They are being sold by the Valmeyer Vikings select Baseball team.  The 2008 book is $25.00, and the GoldC book is $10.00.  For more info - Susan Unterseh at 935-2370 or Eric Seidler at 935-1818.

 

The next meeting of the Valmeyer Optimist Club will be Saturday, December 1 at 8:00 a.m. at the Corner Pub.  Please feel welcome to attend.

 

            MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE VALMEYER OPTIMISTS / VALMEYER MUSIC BOOSTERS CANDLELIGHT HOUSE TOUR – Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Tour eight (8) beautiful homes in the community on West Woodland Ridge, Trout Camp Road, D Road, South Meyer and Bluff Meadows.  Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 on the day of the event and may be purchased at Mike’s Convenience or First Bank in Valmeyer, or by calling Jennifer Seidler at 935-1818 or Gina Hefflinger at 935-0585.  On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased at Daytime Discoveries at 627 S. Meyer Avenue in Valmeyer.

 

            MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE VALMEYER FFA POINSETTIA SALE – SUNDAY DECEMBER 2 at Valmeyer High School from 9:00 a.m. until Noon.  Available are an assortment of Red, Pink, White and Variegated Poinsettias.  Sales will begin on November 19th during Lunch from 12:15 to 12:45 on School days.  For more information call 935-2100, extension 102.

 

            MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE VALMEYER FFA ALUMNI FARM TOY SHOW – SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2 at Valmeyer High School from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  There will also be a limited amount of other toys including dolls, etc.  Admission is $1.00 for those from age Kindergarten through Adult.

 

            THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT – 2007 – The Valmeyer National Honor Society is sponsoring Lydia’s House this Holiday Season by collecting money (for gift cards) and food items such as popcorn (caramel, cheese, etc.), pretzels and candy of all kinds to make holiday tins for the kids.  Lydia’s House provides safe, confidential and support services for abused women and their children in the Metro-East.  These families are in a secured location and do not have the freedom to go and shop during the holiday season like so many of us do.  Lydia’s House is one of the largest organizations of this type in the United States.  If any community member would like to give a monetary donation or donate food to help Lydia’s House, please contact Kelly Rowold at 935-2100, extension 122 or krowold@valmeyerk12.org.  Donations will be accepted from December 3rd through December 17th.

 

            VILLAGE – SPONSORED LARGE ITEM PICKUP DAY – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13 - - - Such items for pickup can include old appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in the regular pickup.  All doors, compressors, and electric motors must be removed from appliances.  No construction materials, garbage, landscape waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up.  Items must be placed at the curb and be ready for pickup by 6:00 p.m.

 

            MARK YOUR CALENDARS – The Valmeyer School Music Boosters are planning and will be hosting a CELEBRATION OF THE TEACHING CAREER OF MARCIA BRASWELL on Sunday, January 13 at the School from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.  For more information about the event contact Susan Unterseh at 935-2370 or Zoe Ann Schwarze at 935-2403.
