A lot of hard work and determination
by Joe Koppeis of Admiral Parkway with the
cooperation of the Valmeyer Village Board and Village
staff members has finally paid off . . . on Wednesday afternoon (12/28) it was
announced that the National Archives and Records Administration will be
moving a portion of their facility to the Rock City Business Complex in Valmeyer. The facility will be
approximately 400,000 square feet, including eight record storage bays. In addition the facility will have two
microfilm storage areas of 2,100 square feet each, and more than 26,000 square
feet of office space. NARA will enter
into a 20-year lease to house this facility at the Rock City complex with the
first occupancy expected to be in the Fall of
2008. It is estimated that 35 jobs will
be created at this facility. According
to the Director of the National Personnel Records Center, records to be stored
at the facility will include military and Internal Revenue Service records,
along with Treasury checks and postal money orders.
A reminder to Valmeyer
residents . . . on the first and third Thursday of each month, curbside
recycling takes place in
the Village. Items can be co-mingled in
your trash container, but should be kept separate from your regular trash on
these pickup days. Those items that can
be recycled include glass, type 1 and 2 plastics, tin and aluminum cans. If you have any questions about Village
recycling, contact Village Hall. Please
take advantage of this service provide to you by the Village, and at the same
time you will be doing your part to help our environment.
