A lot of hard work and determination
by Joe Koppeis of Admiral Parkway with the cooperation of the Valmeyer Village
Board and Village staff members has finally paid off . . . on Wednesday
afternoon (12/28) it was announced that the National Archives and
Records Administration will be moving a portion of their facility to the Rock
City Business Complex in Valmeyer. The facility will be
approximately 400,000 square feet, including eight record storage bays. In addition the facility will have two microfilm
storage areas of 2,100 square feet each, and more than 26,000 square feet of
office space. NARA will enter into a
20-year lease to house this facility at the Rock City complex with the first
occupancy expected to be in the Fall of 2008. It is estimated that 35 jobs will be created
at this facility. According to the
Director of the National Personnel Records Center, records to be stored at the
facility will include military and Internal Revenue Service records, along with
Treasury checks and postal money orders.

DRIVE – Monday, December
10 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Valmeyer. All presenting donors will receive an
American Red Cross vintage long sleeve T-shirt.

A reminder to Valmeyer residents . .
. on the first and third Thursday of each month, curbside recycling takes place in the
Village. Items can be co-mingled in your
trash container, but should be kept separate from your regular trash on these
pickup days. Those items that can be
recycled include glass, type 1 and 2 plastics, tin and aluminum cans. If you have any questions about Village
recycling, contact Village Hall. Please
take advantage of this service provide to you by the Village, and at the same
time you will be doing your part to help our environment.
The Valmeyer Knights of
Columbus are selling Christmas cards for the holiday season.
The cards feature artwork of the winners of last years Christmas Poster
contest which was sponsored by the Knights.
The cards come in different versions and sell – 10 cards for $10. The cards are available at St. Mary’s Church
and First Bank.
The Sure Cures Relay for Life
team is taking orders for the 2008 Men of Monroe County calendar. The price is $15.00. Delivery will be mid-December. For more information for a great Christmas

Valmeyer Post Office is
looking for someone to work approximately 9-12 hours per week. If interested or if you have questions, call
or stop by the Post Office to fill out an application. Applications will be accepted until Friday, December
14.

BOOK. They are being sold by the Valmeyer Vikings
select Baseball team. The 2008 book is

THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT –
2007 – The Valmeyer National Honor Society is sponsoring Lydia’s House this
Holiday Season by collecting money (for gift cards) and food items such as
popcorn (caramel, cheese, etc.), pretzels and candy of all kinds to make
holiday tins for the kids. Lydia’s House
provides safe, confidential and support services for abused women and their children
in the Metro-East. These families are in
a secured location and do not have the freedom to go and shop during the
holiday season like so many of us do.
Lydia’s House is one of the largest organizations of this type in the
United States. If any community member
would like to give a monetary donation or donate food to help Lydia’s House,
please contact Kelly Rowold at 935-2100, extension 122 or krowold@valmeyerk12.org. Donations will be accepted from December 3rd
through December 17th.
VILLAGE – SPONSORED LARGE
ITEM PICKUP DAY –
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13 - - - Such items for pickup can
include old appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in
the regular pickup. All doors,
compressors, and electric motors must be removed from appliances. No construction materials, garbage, landscape
waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up. Items must be placed at the curb and be ready
for pickup by 6:00 p.m.
Nomination forms
are currently available for members to be inducted into the VALMEYER SCHOOL MUSIC HALL OF FAME in the Spring of 2008. Those
applications can be obtained from Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer
School.
