The VALMEYER
SENIOR CITIZENS will be holding a pot luck meal at Noon on Wednesday, March 22
at the Emergency Services Building.
Their regular monthly meeting will follow.
The FIRST
ANNUAL VHS POST-PROM PARTY plans are being finalized. The party will be held at the Monroe County
YMCA following the Junior-Senior Prom.
It will be a lock-in event open to Juniors and Seniors and their prom
dates, whether or not they attend prom.
There will be food, games, inflatables, pool
access, karaoke and much more! There will also be attendance prize give-aways all evening.
Also, parents are being asked to consider making a monetary donation to
the Post Prom event (any amount) to help raise the necessary funds. Several local businesses and community
members have already donated toward this event, and any assistance the parents
can provide would also be appreciated.
If you would like to make a donation, please send it to Becky Karsten, Guidance Counselor at Valmeyer
High School. Please help to make the

THE SCHOLASTIC
BOOK FAIR is coming to the Valmeyer Library. The week of April 3rd come to
share exciting books and learning products with the readers in your family. Parents and teachers will find plenty of
items to interest them too. The fair is
open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily with evening hours – (4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
on Thursday, April 6th. The
Book Fair helps promote learning while raising money for the School
Library. To preview some of the titles
that will be at the Fair go to www.scholastic.com/bookfairs. Don’t miss out on the Scholastic Book

Members of the
Village of Valmeyer COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMITTEE have
been hard at work on beginning their efforts to produce an updated plan for the
community. In the near future residents
will be asked to complete a short survey to gather their opinions on various
matters. Following that a public meeting
will be held to address the thoughts and concerns of citizens. It is important that all residents
participate in both the survey completion and the public meeting, so watch for
details of these upcoming events.
MARK YOUR
CALENDARS FOR LARGE ITEM PICKUP DAY – THURSDAY, MARCH 23. Items for pickup can include old appliances,
furniture, and other items which are too large to be included in the regular
pickup. All doors, compressors, and
electric motors must be removed from the appliances. No construction materials, garbage, landscape
waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up. Items must be placed at the curb and be ready
for pickup by 6:00 a.m. on that day. For
questions call Laurie at Village Hall.

CLASS OF VALMEYER HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS “OUR MISS BROOKS”. Friday, March 24 and Saturday,
March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Gym.

VHS Band and
Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . Spring yard work, house
cleaning, babysitting . . . whatever work you need done. All students are to be paid on a donation
basis. Proceeds from this work will go
toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National Music
Festival. Anyone interested in “hiring”
a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at

St. John UCC
Board of Christian Education is organizing a Trivia Night for Saturday, March
25 – Doors open at 6:30 with play beginning at 7:00 p.m. with tables of 8
people at $10 per person. To make
reservations or for more information call 935-2240.

CALENDARS . . . . . to dine at the First Soup and Dessert Supper to be given by
the Valmeyer American Legion Post 901 and its
Auxiliary on Thursday, March 30 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall. Two different soups will be available –
vegetable beef and chicken noodle. The
Auxiliary will add an exotic variety of homemade desserts, along with coffee
and lemonade. The cost is $6 for adults,
$3 for children under 12 and FREE for those under age 5. Carryouts will be
available, or if preferred, soup will be available by the quart for $4. The Valmeyer
American Legion works to support those less fortunate, and recently donated
$3,000 to Hurricane Katrina victims. Please help support the Valmeyer
Legion at this event.
LOOKING FOR
MUSICIANS . . . . . . . The VHS Alumni Committee is searching for any alumnus
who would like to perform with this year’s band at the Annual Alumni Dance on
May 13th. Any interested
people should contact Scott Roever at csroev@htc.net
or 935-2332 if they would like to perform a song with the “house” band. While the dance this year will have a band of
VHS alumnus performing your favorite tunes, they are inviting any other alumnus
to join them for a song of your choosing (as long as the band can learn it in
time). Songs can be from any era or
style.
