A drop box for used clothes, shoes and linens has been placed on the parking lot of St. Mary Church for donations of those items.  Please be generous in helping those less fortunate.

 

NO BETTER COMBINATION – BARBECUE AND BASEBALL - - - MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 11 – The Valmeyer Council Knights of Columbus will host a Barbecue at Borsch Park in Valmeyer on that day from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Food will include pork steaks, brats, hamburgers and hot dogs along with pork and beans, potato salad and chips.  Stop by for some great food, and catch some equally great baseball between the Valmeyer Lakers and Columbia Saints.

 

VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY - - - - - THE SUMMER SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:

            Mondays and Thursdays – 3:00 to 8:30 p.m.             Tuesdays – 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Don’t forget to register your child for “Voyage to Book Island”, the summer reading program.  Call the Library at 935-2626 or stop by and get a registration blank and informational flyer.  The highlight of the season will be on July 18, when the Elsenpeter Water Show comes to Valmeyer for the closing session.  PREPARE TO GET WET!!!  The Library web page is up and running again, so you can keep current with what is going on at the Library.  Go to www.valmeyerk12.org and click on LIBRARY.

 

Dribble on in to VALMEYER PIRATE GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP for girls entering Grades 5-12 to be held June 12-15 in the Valmeyer School Multi-Purpose Gym.  The session for girls entering Grades 5-8 will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each day, and the session for girls entering Grades 9-12 will be from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 each day.  Each camper will receive group and individual instruction on the basic fundamentals of basketball offenses and defenses, and will compete in individual skills (i.e. free throw shooting, hot shot, horse within their grade levels.  Campers will receive a Pirate Camp T-shirt.  The fee for the camp is $35, and $20 for each additional child in the same family.  A completed registration form along with the fee is due by June 1, and should be remitted to the High School office.  For more information or to reserve a spot, call Coach Snow at 935-2100, extension 126.

 

A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE VILLAGE OF VALMEYER COMPREHENSIVE PLAN has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Valmeyer School Junior High Gym.  All Valmeyer residents are invited and encouraged to attend this event.  Residents will be allowed to present their comments.  Length of comments will be limited so all those who want to speak will have the opportunity.  Those who are unable to attend can forward their written comments to the Village Clerk for submission at the Public Hearing.  If you have any questions, contact Valmeyer Village Hall.

 

A tentative schedule has been released for the VALMEYER MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION including:

            Friday, June 30 – Evening Music

            Saturday, July 1 – Baseball Tournament with Evening Music

            Sunday, July 2 – Baseball Tournament with Parade at 5:00 p.m. (Please note change of time).

            Monday, July 3 – Evening Music

            Tuesday, July 4 – Baseball Tournament with Colossal Fireworks at dusk.

The theme for this year’s parade is “A Day at the Beach” with a $100 prize for the best float.  There will also be prizes awarded for Kiddie entries – 1st place of $25, 2nd place of $15 and 3rd place of $10.  For more information contact Parade Chairman Ann James at 935-6061.

 

VALMEYER SCHOOL CALENDAR . . . . .

            Tuesday, July 18 and Wednesday, July 19 – Registration for all students in Grades K-8 for the 2-006-2007 School Year – from Noon to 6:00 p.m.

            Wednesday, August 16 – First day of school for the 2006-2007 School Year.
