            Monday, January 23 – High School Girls Basketball vs. Evansville at HOME – 6:00 p.m.

            Tuesday, January 24 – High School Boys Basketball vs. Red Bud at HOME – 6:15 p.m.

            Thursday, January 26 – Saturday, January 28 – IMEA All State Conference in Peoria – VHS will be

                        represented by Kyle Hoffmann.

            Friday, January 27 – High School Boys Basketball at Gibault – 6:15 p.m.

            Saturday, January f28 – High School Boys Freshman Basketball at Columbia – 10:00 a.m.

 

The Valmeyer Senior Citizens will hold their regular monthly meeting on January 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Emergency Services Building.

           

IT’S SPAGHETTI TIME – MARK YOUR CALENDARS - - - COME AND ENJOY A SPAGHETTI DINNER AND “PACK THE PLACE” – Tuesday, January 31st – Watch the VHS Boys Basketball Team play Columbia and enjoy a spaghetti dinner hosted by the VHS Cheerleaders and the VHS Pep Club.  Serving will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.  Price is $5 per plate including spaghetti, bread, salad, desserts and drinks.  The spaghetti dinner will be held in the school multi purpose room (cafeteria).

 

TRIVIA NIGHT – SPONSORED BY THE VALMEYER SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTERS – Saturday, February 4.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the event starting at 7:00 p.m. in the School Cafeteria (Multi Purpose Room).  Eight players per table.  Admission $10 per adult, $8 per student.  Free popcorn with soda and snacks available.  No alcohol permitted.  All proceeds from this event will benefit the Valmeyer High School Music Department Trip to the Music Festival in New York.  For reservations or further information contact Zoe Ann Schwarze at 935-2403, Sherry Martin at 939-5214 or Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at the Valmeyer School Music Department 935-2100.

 

The Village Board has decided to compile an updated COMPREHENSIVE PLAN for the Village.  Members of the community are invited to participate in this process.  If you would be willing to serve on a committee to research assorted topics, please leave your name with Laurie at Village Hall.  This process can only be successful with the help of all Village residents.  PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO SERVE ON ONE OF THESE PLANNING COMMITTEES.

 

VHS Band and Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . yard work, house cleaning, babysitting . . . whatever work you need done.  All students are to be paid on a donation basis.  Proceeds from this work will go toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National Music Festival.  Anyone interested in “hiring” a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, ext 403 or Mike Alexander at 935-2100, ext 232.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE 2006 ANNUAL MUSIC BOOSTER DINNER EXTRAVAGANZA - - - “A BITE OF THE BIG APPLE” - - - to take place on Saturday, March 18 at Valmeyer School featuring dinner, auction and a community talent showcase to benefit the Valmeyer School Music Department.  The doors will open at 4:30 with the silent auction beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.  The silent auction will continue during dinner – while the costume contest and live auction will immediately follow dinner.  The evening will also include induction of the 2006 Members to the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame.  Ticket price for the evening is $20 per person.  The menu will include the following:  Tossed Green Salad with Dressing, Dinner Rolls and Butter, CHOICE OF ENTRÉE – Roasted Top Sirloin Steak with Jack Daniels Sauce or Rosemary Chicken; Bowtie Pasta with Oil / Butter / Garlic; Young Green Beans; CHOICE OF DESSERT – New York Style Cheesecake Parfait or Big Apple Crisp.  There will be an optional costume contest for those interested in participating – Broadway Musical costumes are welcomed with prizes awarded in several categories.  Babysitting services will be available, BUT SPACE IS LIMITED AND RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SERVICE.  Children Age 1 through 4th grade will be accepted, and reservations must be made directly with Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at 935-2100 for the babysitting service.  Tickets go on sale January 23 for this event and will be available at First Bank in Valmeyer, Mike’s Convenience, Valmeyer Village Hall, First National Bank of Waterloo and Valmeyer School.  Start planning now for the items to donate to the auction.
