DON’T STAND
OUT IN THE COLD TO PREPARE YOUR BARBECUE - - - The Valmeyer Jaycees are hosting
a WINTER BARBECUE on Sunday, February 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the
Emergency Services Building. They will
have CARRYOUT ORDERS ONLY. Pork steaks,
brats and hot dogs will be available. A
portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the VHS Post-Prom Party.
The Monroe
Randolph Transit District (MRT) is now offering transportation services for
Monroe and Randolph Counties. This
includes the Valmeyer area. The
transportation is provided by Southern Metro East Transportation (SMET). This demand/response, curb-to-curb system is
available to the general public, and is open to any rider in Monroe and
Randolph County. Rides are available on
a first-come, first-serve basis, within the limits of Randolph and Monroe
Counties. Hours of operation are Monday
through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A
$3.00 fare per trip is required on board, exact change only. To schedule a ride at least 24 hours in

The Village
Board has decided to compile an updated COMPREHENSIVE PLAN for the
Village. Members of the community are
invited to participate in this process.
If you would be willing to serve on a committee to research assorted
topics, please leave your name with Laurie at Village Hall. This process can only be successful with the
help of all Village residents. PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO SERVE ON ONE OF THESE
PLANNING COMMITTEES.
Valmeyer
Elementary School is hosting a family art night called “AN EVENING WITH THE
MASTERS ‘06” on February 16th at 6:30 p.m. Families with children in School up to 5th
Grade can participate. Families may
choose from a wide variety of projects such as mobiles similar to Alexander
Calder'’ work, create their own version of Van Gogh'’ Starry Night with
acrylics or create a mosaic design on an object to be placed in the outdoor
classroom / nature area next to the elementary wing. Interested families can contact Teena
Riechmann (935-2100, extension 502) to RSVP for the event. RSVP’s are due February 3rd. On March 9th, at 6:30 p.m. the
school will host an art exhibit to showcase the work done at “AN EVENING WITH
THE MASTERS ‘06” and the public is invited to attend. Both events are made possible by a generous
grant from the Bluffside Education Foundation.
VALMEYER MUSIC
BOOSTERS FISH FRY AND MUSIC MARATHON – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24 in the Valmeyer
School Multi Purpose Room. Serving from
4:00 to 7:30 p.m. with carryouts available at 3:30 p.m. Cod Plate includes 2 sides and a
dessert. The menu will also include cod
sandwiches and fish by the pound. Listen
to the Valmeyer High School students perform their music solo and ensemble
selections. All proceeds of this event
go to the Valmeyer School Music Programs.
The Valmeyer
Music Boosters are in need to new or gently-used baskets for their upcoming
Dinner / Auction / Theater event. If you
would like to donate baskets contact Susan Unterseh or Marcia Braswell at
School.
VHS Band and
Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . yard work, house
cleaning, babysitting . . . whatever work you need done. All students are to be paid on a donation
basis. Proceeds from this work will go
toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National Music
Festival. Anyone interested in “hiring”
a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, ext 403 or Mike

TICKETS TODAY FOR THE 2006 ANNUAL MUSIC
BOOSTER DINNER EXTRAVAGANZA - - - “A BITE OF THE BIG APPLE” - - - to take place
on Saturday, March 18 at Valmeyer School featuring dinner, auction and a
community talent showcase to benefit the Valmeyer School Music Department. The doors will open at 4:30 with the silent
auction beginning at 5:00 p.m. Dinner
will be served at 5:30 p.m. The silent
auction will continue during dinner – while the costume contest and live
auction will immediately follow dinner.
The evening will also include induction of the 2006 Members to the
Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame.
Ticket price for the evening is $20 per person. The menu will include the following: Tossed Green Salad with Dressing, Dinner
Rolls and Butter, CHOICE OF ENTRÉE – Roasted Top Sirloin Steak with Jack
Daniels Sauce or Rosemary Chicken; Bowtie Pasta with Oil / Butter / Garlic;
Young Green Beans; CHOICE OF DESSERT – New York Style Cheesecake Parfait or Big
Apple Crisp. There will be an optional
costume contest for those interested in participating – Broadway Musical
costumes are welcomed with prizes awarded in several categories. Babysitting services will be available, BUT
SPACE IS LIMITED AND RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SERVICE. Children Age 1 through 4th grade
will be accepted, and reservations must be made directly with Marcia Braswell
or Mike Alexander at 935-2100 for the babysitting service. Tickets are available at First Bank in
Valmeyer, Mike’s Convenience, Valmeyer Village Hall, First National Bank of
Waterloo and Valmeyer School. Start
planning now for the items to donate to the auction.
COMMUNITY
VARIETY SHOW TO BE ENTERTAINMENT FOR DINNER THEATER - - - The 2006 Music
Booster Dinner Theater event “A Bite of the Big Apple” will include a Community
Variety Show. Anyone who would like to
be considered for participation in the Variety Show should call VHS Choral
Director Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, extension 403 or VHS Band Director Mike
Alexander at 935-2100, extension 232 no later than Friday, February 17th. Music and comedy acts will be
considered.
LOOKING FOR
MUSICIANS . . . . . . . The VHS Alumni Committee is searching for any alumnus
who would like to perform with this year’s band at the Annual Alumni Dance on
May 13th. Any interested
people should contact Scott Roever at csroev@htc.net or
935-2332 if they would like to perform a song with the “house” band. While the dance this year will have a band of
VHS alumnus performing your favorite tunes, they are inviting any other alumnus
to join them for a song of your choosing (as long as the band can learn it in
time). Songs can be from any era or
style.
