SCHOOL MUSIC HALL OF FAME - - - It’s time to pick up nomination applications
for the induction of members into the Valmeyer School
Music Hall of Fame. Nominees do not need
to be VHS graduates, but must be at least 23 years of age. Nominees can be living or deceased. Nomination does not guarantee induction. Applications will be reviewed, and applicants
researched by the Valmeyer Music Boosters Hall of
Fame Committee. Nominees for 2007 will
be inducted at an awards presentation at the Spring event of the Valmeyer Music Boosters on March 17, 2007. Nominees will be inducted because of their
outstanding abilities in music and / or dance performance, because of their
outstanding service as music educators, or because they have made an
outstanding contribution to music in the School and/or their community. Induction may be because of any one or more
of the previously listed criteria. HALL
OF FAME APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 19, 2007. For additional info contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer
School at 935-2100.
During
2009, the Village of Valmeyer will celebrate its
Centennial. Valmeyer
was officially founded as a Village in 1909.
To commemorate this celebration, I am working on the publication of a
history book for the Village. I would
appreciate hearing from anyone who has any photographs of the Village
throughout its history, from the earliest of times to current years. Photos of buildings, activities, holiday festivals,
cultural events – whatever you may have – all time periods and all events are
important in documenting the history of Valmeyer. Photos will be borrowed long enough to scan
and then will be immediately returned to the owners. Compiling this book will take some time, so
that is the reason for the early start.
If you have any information to contribute, please contact me at 935-2142
or by email at knobloch@htc.net. Thanks, Dennis.
