                Monday, December 18 – High School Girls Basketball at Dupo – 6:15 p.m.

                Monday, December 18 – Fifth Grade Holiday Concert in the High School Gym.  Fifth grade band

                                will perform and the entire class will present the musical “A Dickens of a Christmas.”

                Tuesday, December 19 – High School Boys Basketball vs. Steeleville at HOME – 6:15 p.m.            

                Thursday, December 21 – Teacher Institute – NO SCHOOL.

                Friday, December 22 – NO SCHOOL – Christmas break December 22 through January 2, 2007

                Friday, December 22 – High School Boys Basketball vs. Gibault at HOME – 6:15 p.m.

                Classes resume on Wednesday, January 3.

 

                LAST CHANCE SIGNUP  FOR VALMEYER YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATION BASKETBALL AND CHEERLEADING.  Monday, December 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Junior High Lobby.  All games are played at Valmeyer School.  There will be separate boys and girls teams.  Registration and all fees are due at sign up.  All students Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to participate.  Cost is $35 for the first child, $30 for the second child, and $25 for each additional child.  Fee for 5 on 5 is $35.  For more info contact VYSA Basketball coordinator Terry Crossin at 935-6078.

 

                VILLAGE LARGE ITEM TRASH PICKUP – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28 . . . Such items for pickup can include old appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in the regular pickup.  All doors, compressors, and electric motors must be removed from the appliances.  No construction materials, garbage, landscape waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up.  Items must be placed at the curb and be ready for pickup by 6:00 a.m. on that day.

 

                The Valmeyer Music Boosters have announced the date for their Annual Spring fund raiser.  R.S.V.P. – The Wedding of the Century will take place on Saturday, March 17 at Valmeyer School.  Tickets for this annual Dinner / Theater / Auction event will go on sale at a later date.  As part of this event there will be a community theater production.  Those interested in participating in this event are invited to attend a tryout session on Thursday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chorus Room.  If you have any questions about this event contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer School.

 

                NEWS FROM THE VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY . . . The Christmas books are now on display in the Library, so they are ready for you to come and choose some Christmas reading.  There are mysteries, family stories, novels and books on crafts, food and other Christmas topics.  The Illinois Veterans’ History Project is inviting veterans and families of veterans to have the name and biographical information of veterans placed in the State Archives.  An official Certificate of Appreciation will be sent to those who register.  The blanks are available at the Valmeyer Library.  The Valmeyer Library will close as usual during the Holiday Season from December 20 to January 3.  However, they will be open one evening – Dec. 28 from 2 to 8 p.m.

 

                NEWS FROM THE VALMEYER AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILIARY. . . There will be NO meeting during the month of January.  The next meeting of the group will be on Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Legion Home at 7:00 p.m.  The members of the Legion Auxiliary would like to extend best wishes to all for a happy holiday season.

 

VALMEYER SCHOOL MUSIC HALL OF FAME - - - It’s time to pick up nomination applications for the induction of members into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame.  Nominees do not need to be VHS graduates, but must be at least 23 years of age.  Nominees can be living or deceased.  Nomination does not guarantee induction.  Applications will be reviewed, and applicants researched by the Valmeyer Music Boosters Hall of Fame Committee.  Nominees for 2007 will be inducted at an awards presentation at the Spring event of the Valmeyer Music Boosters on March 17, 2007.  Nominees will be inducted because of their outstanding abilities in music and / or dance performance, because of their outstanding service as music educators, or because they have made an outstanding contribution to music in the School and/or their community.  Induction may be because of any one or more of the previously listed criteria.  For additional info contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer School at 935-2100.

 

                Help the VALMEYER JAYCEES “Light Up the Town” for the holidays.  The Valmeyer Area Jaycees will be awarding cash prizes to five lucky families who have their homes lighted and decorated for the holidays.  All homes within the Village limits are eligible to win.  Prizes will be awarded the weekend of December 16th and 17th.
