                Monday, October 3 – High School Golf Regional Tournament at the Prairies – 9:00 a.m.

                Tuesday, October 4 – High School Volleyball at Steeleville – 6:00 p.m.

                Friday, October 7 – TEACHER INSTITUTE – NO SCHOOL.

                Friday, October 7 – High School Volleyball vs. Alton Marquette at HOME – 6:00 p.m.

                Monday, October 10 – Columbus Day – NO SCHOOL.

                Monday, October 10 – IMEA District / All State auditions at Mount Vernon High School.  Bus leaves at 6:30 a.m.

 

The next monthly meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary will be on October 3 at the American Legion Home.  22nd District President Dee Kesner will be the special guest at that meeting.  Member dues are due at this time.  Senior member dues are $8.50 per year, but if not paid by October 15 they will increase to $10.00.  Please make every effort to get your dues paid to eliminate the additional cost.

 

COMING THIS WEEK – DON’T MISS ALL THE BARGAINS at the VALMEYER COMMUNITY YARD SALE – Saturday, October 8th from 8:00 a.m. until ???????  All those interested in participating should contact Laurie at Village Hall to have your name included on a map / listing to be made available to garage sale shoppers that day.

 

St. John United Church of Christ made home-made apple butter on September 24.  Cost of the apple butter is $7.00 per quart and $4.00 per pint.  Orders can be placed with Pat Garleb 935-2413, Joyce Rippelmeyer 935-2452 or Pearl Stechmesser 939-8866.

 

Valmeyer High School Music students are busy preparing for their fall musical production of “THE MUSIC MAN”.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the date of the production – November 3, 4 and 5 on the High School stage.

 

Valmeyer’s Clover Town 4-H Club is collecting donations to aid Hurricane Katrina victims.  Mike’s Convenience Store is the drop-off point through the end of September for cash, canned goods and other items.  Items will be donated to the Salvation Army.  For additional information contact Laurie Brown 935-2470, Dawn Burns 935-2652 or Sherry Stitzel 458-6661.

 

The Valmeyer FFA has a large selection of beautiful mums at Valmeyer High School behind the Ag Shop.  The Mums can  be purchased from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. each school day.  For questions or to place orders call 935-2100, extension 102.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the First Annual Valmeyer Optimists PUTT PUTT GLOW BALL EVENT - - - open to youth PreKindergarten through 12th Grade.  This event will be held October 7th at the Jefferson Barracks Golf Tee.  Registration begins at 6:30 with tee-off at 7:00 p.m.   Entry fee is $12 per participant – 4 participants per group.  An adult must accompany each group.  The fee includes a t-shirt, 18 holes of fun, treats and a glow ball.  Please bring a flashlight.  Half of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Childhood Cancer Campaign of Optimists International, and half will benefit the Valmeyer Childhood Cancer Campaign.  For questions call Teena Riechmann at 458-4546 or email triechmn@valmeyerk12.org.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the Valmeyer Youth Sports TRIVIA NITE – October 22 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.  $10 per person – 6 minimum – 8 maximum per table.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m.  Trivia begins at 7:00 p.m.  Call Allen May at 935-2611 for reservations.  Snacks and refreshments permitted.
