A MESSAGE FROM THE
VALMEYER POLICE DEPARTMENT. . . If you are contacted by someone identifying
themselves as a phone company representative conducting a test of the phone
line, who then asks you to press nine (9), then zero (0), and then the pound
sign and hang up so the test can be completed, DO NOT DO THIS. By pushing 90#, you give the requesting
individual full access to your phone line, which enables them to place long
distance calls billed to your home phone number. . . . . ALSO, one local
individual has been contacted by phone with the message that they qualified for
a “SENIOR GRANT” between $8,000 and $25,000.
All they needed to do to qualify for the grant was to provide bank
account information. PLEASE DO NOT
PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO ANYONE CALLING ON THE PHONE – THIS IS A SCAM, AND
THERE IS NO GRANT MONEY AVAILABLE. If you
encounter any such phone calls, please contact the local Police Department.
