THE VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY Book Clubs are in “the swing”.  Librarian, Portia Stueve, thinks that maybe there is a misunderstanding about meeting times.  They don’t meet every week – just once a month.  So you don’t have to read a book a week.  Does that make a difference?  Come join the group – Monday or Thursday night.  Next meetings are March 21 and April 21.  Actually, the groups are finding that they have more time to read than they thought. . . after all, there are so many books.  The toughest part has been the choosing.  Bet you can’t read just one.  Please call 935-2626 for more info or to sign up for the discussion groups.

BOOK FAIR AT VALMEYER LIBRARY – March 30 to April 7.  There will be a Scholastic Fair of new books for the youngsters.  There will also be a used book fair for all ages with mainly adult books.  Between now and that date, the Library will be accepting donations of books.  Watch the School / Library website for updates, including which books will be included in the Book Fair Auction.  The hours will be during regular library hours and on Saturday morning, April 2 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.  For more info contact the Library at 935-2626.

The library is also holding a raffle to be drawn on April 7.  Items include a handmade “book lamp”, homemade crochet rugs, a reader’s basket, a homemade chocolate lover’s basket with the chocolate so fresh it will not be in the basket until April 7, a school house memories basket, a pillow, and a made-to-order decorated cake.  Raffle tickets are $1.00 or 6 for $5.00 and can be purchased at the Library.

Library hours are Monday and Thursday – 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The Library will be closed Friday, March 25 and Monday, March 28 for Spring Break.

The Library is SELLING WOODEN PLAQUES DEPICTING THE ORIGINAL VALMEYER HIGH SCHOOL in full color.  The plaques are 4 inches by 8 inches and sell for $15.00.  Examples of the plaques are available around town.  Stop by the Library to buy one, or call the Library at 935-2626 to reserve one.
