Valmeyer C.U.S.D. #3 will be accepting sealed bids for the mowing of the school grounds during the months of March through November, 2005. Interested mowing contractors should stop by the unit office to pick up a bid packet and to receive instructions as to what will be mowed. Bids will be opened at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Unit Office.

THE VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY is forming book discussion groups. One group will meet on Monday nights and another on Thursday nights. Please call 935-2626 for more information or to sign up for the discussion groups.

The Valmeyer Youth Sports Association will have sign-ups for T-BALL, BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL in the Valmeyer School Junior High Lobby on:

Saturday, February 12 from 9:00 am until Noon.

Sunday, February 13 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

St. John UCC Valmeyer Youth Group is selling butter braids and cookie dough as a fund raiser. The flavors available are apple, cherry, cinnamon and cream cheese. They also have Chippery Gourmet Cookie Dough in the following flavors – chocolate chunk, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and white chocolate macadamia nut. The proceeds from this sale will benefit youth group activities and community service projects. To place an order call Susan Unterseh at 935-2370 or Kim Chappuis at 935-6017.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - - - ASH WEDNESDAY FISH FRY AT ST. JOHN UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST – Wednesday, February 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eat in or carry out – sandwiches or plates. Plates include 2 side orders, drink and dessert. Cod and tilapia will be available along with home-made potato salad, slaw and desserts.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - - - The Valmeyer National Honor Society is once again hosting a school and community blood drive in the High School gym on February 11, from 12:45 to 6:45 p.m. All presenting donors will receive a complimentary t-shirt. The last school drive was well attended, and the wait was very long. The National Honor Society has spoken with the Red Cross, and they have assured the group that additional staff will be at the upcoming drive to reduce the waiting time. Members of the NHS hope that the community will once again show their support and attend the Blood Drive. Give the gift of life – give blood.

The Valmeyer Music Boosters are looking for donations of auction items for their Annual Dinner Theater Auction event to be held on March 19. If you would be willing to donate an auction item please contact Susan Unterseh at 935-2370 or Zoe Ann Schwarze at 935-2403. There is also a need for baskets that can be used for collections of auction items. If you have baskets to donate contact Susan, Zoe Ann or Mrs. Braswell at School.

The Valmeyer Music Boosters are planning a TRIVIA NIGHT on February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the School Multi-Purpose Room. There will be tables of 8 people with a $10 per person entrance fee. Refreshments will be available and no alcohol is allowed. For reservations can be made with Sherry Martin at 939-5214 or Zoe Ann Schwarze at 935-2403.
