VHS Band and
Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . yard work, house
cleaning, gift wrapping, decorating, babysitting . . . whatever work you need
done. All students are to be paid on a
donation basis. Proceeds from this work
will go toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National
Music Festival. Anyone interested in
“hiring” a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, extension
403 or Mike Alexander at 935-2100, extension 232.
The Valmeyer
Optimists are sponsoring a visit from Santa on Sunday, December 11th
from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Emergency Services Building. Santa will have treats for the youngsters,
and there will be cookies and punch for all.
Wouldn’t the
children in your family be delighted to receive a phone call or letter from
Santa??? That is possible thanks to the
Valmeyer Optimists, and it could be yours for only a $5 donation to the
Optimist Club. For arrangements call

ENJOY THE
SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS – Sunday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. at St. John
United Church of Christ in Valmeyer. A
free will offering will be accepted.

American Legion Auxiliary is closing out a very busy calendar year 2005. At their November meeting Edna Brown won the
quilt being raffled by the group.
Special honors were bestowed upon the 60-year members Twyla Luhr,
Eleanor Althoff and Ethel Rohlfing. - - -
Members of the group will be meeting for their Christmas party at
Annbriar on December 5th. - -
- Donations were made to the following causes – to the Library Fund at VHS in
honor of Education Week, the VA&R Six Point Program, Postage Stamp Fund,
Fisher House Fund, National Creative Arts Program, Children’s Heart Fund, Songs
of Love, Special Olympics Fund and the American Legion Child Welfare
Foundation. - - - Several scholarships have been announced, the Nurses
Scholarship Fund and the Children & Youth Scholarship. Anyone interested in applying for these
scholarships should contact the Guidance Officer at VHS, Becky Karsten at
935-2100, extension 205 for scholarship details and deadlines. - - - The
Valmeyer Unit has exceeded their membership goal for the year 2005 – 2006. - -
- The next meeting of the Auxiliary will be February 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at
the American Legion Hall.
The Valmeyer
High School National Honor Society is having a “COATS FOR KIDS” DRIVE from
November 28 to December 9. They are
collecting new and gently-used coats, as well as new hats, gloves and scarves
to donate to the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis, which is an after
school center that provides a safe, nurturing environment for children and
youth in the community. These coats and
winter apparel will be donated to children ages 6-18, so please donate items
for children in this age range. Collection
boxes will be placed in the school lobbies as well as MAR Graphics, Mike’s
Convenience Store and First Bank.

Proceeds from this sale will benefit High School students who will be attending this year’s National Music Festival.

early to MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE 2006 ANNUAL MUSIC BOOSTER DINNER
EXTRAVAGANZA - - - “A BITE OF THE BIG APPLE” - - - to take place on Saturday,
March 18 at Valmeyer School featuring dinner, auction and a community talent
showcase to benefit the Valmeyer School Music Department. Start planning now for the items you will
donate to the auction.
Applications
are currently being accepted for nominations for the induction of individuals
into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame.
These applications will be accepted until January 16, 2006, and new
members will be inducted in the Spring of 2006.
