It has been a

infrastructure improvements has taken place at the

the Census Bureau to do a special census of the Village yielding a preliminary
count of 1119 residents. The final
certified count has now been received – Valmeyer
officially has 450 housing units and a population of 1,124 as compared to the
year 2000 count of 241 housing units and 608 people.

Work has begun on Bluff
Meadows – a 275 lot residential development that was annexed to the Village’s
eastern border.

The Village
Board has decided to compile an updated COMPREHENSIVE PLAN for the
Village. Members of the community are
invited to participate in this process.
If you would be willing to serve on a committee to research assorted
topics, please leave your name with Laurie at Village Hall. This process can only be successful with the
help of all Village residents.
The Valmeyer Fire Protection District is looking for people who
would like to become EMS FIRST RESPONDERS.
Classes start in mid-January. The
district pays for the class. For more
information or to sign up call Chief Floyd Floarke at
618-604-4258. Please take this opportunity
to serve your community. First
Responders are especially needed for weekday business hours. The life you save may be someone you love.
VHS Band and
Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . yard work, house
cleaning, gift wrapping, decorating, babysitting . . . whatever work you need
done. All students are to be paid on a
donation basis. Proceeds from this work
will go toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National
Music Festival. Anyone interested in
“hiring” a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, extension
403 or Mike Alexander at 935-2100, extension 232.

March 18 at Valmeyer School featuring dinner, auction
and a community talent showcase to benefit the Valmeyer
School Music Department. Start planning
now for the items you will donate to the auction.

Applications
are currently being accepted for nominations for the induction of individuals
into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame. These applications will be accepted until
January 17, 2006, and new members will be inducted in the Spring of 2006. For applications contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer
