Wednesday, December 28 – High School Boys Basketball – Columbia Holiday Tournament.

Valmeyer vs. Steeleville at 10:00 a.m.

Thursday, December 29 – High School Boys Basketball – Columbia Holiday Tournament.

Valmeyer vs. Columbia at 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday, January 3 – School resumes.

The public is cordially invited to the Village of Valmeyer / Admiral Parkway Rock City Business Complex on Monday, December 19 at 11:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the facility. Local, state and federal officials will be on hand for the event. Tours will be given of the facility and refreshments will be served.

The Valmeyer Fire Protection District is looking for people who would like to become EMS FIRST RESPONDERS. Classes start in mid-January. The district pays for the class. For more information or to sign up call Chief Floyd Floarke at 618-604-4258. Please take this opportunity to serve your community. First Responders are especially needed for weekday business hours. The life you save may be someone you love.

VHS Band and Chorus members are now available for odd jobs . . . . . yard work, house cleaning, gift wrapping, decorating, babysitting . . . whatever work you need done. All students are to be paid on a donation basis. Proceeds from this work will go toward the cost of the Music Department Spring Trip to the National Music Festival. Anyone interested in “hiring” a VHS student should contact Marcia Braswell at 935-2100, extension 403 or Mike Alexander at 935-2100, extension 232.

Wouldn’t the children in your family be delighted to receive a phone call or letter from Santa??? That is possible thanks to the Valmeyer Optimists, and it could be yours for only a $5 donation to the Optimist Club. For arrangements call Teena Riechmann at 458-4546.

Proceeds from this sale will benefit High School students who will be attending this year’s National Music Festival.

It’s not too early to MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE 2006 ANNUAL MUSIC BOOSTER DINNER EXTRAVAGANZA - - - “A BITE OF THE BIG APPLE” - - - to take place on Saturday, March 18 at Valmeyer School featuring dinner, auction and a community talent showcase to benefit the Valmeyer School Music Department. Start planning now for the items you will donate to the auction.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR - - - TRIVIA NIGHT benefiting Valmeyer Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop #345. Saturday, January 7^th at the Valmeyer Junior High School Gym. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with trivia starting at 7:00 p.m. Bring your own snacks and drinks – NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED. Cash prizes to be awarded. $10 per person with 8 members per team. Applications are currently being accepted for nominations for the induction of individuals into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame. These applications will be accepted until January 17, 2006, and new members will be inducted in the Spring of 2006. For applications contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at Valmeyer School.
