ANNOUNCING – THE VALMEYER SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTERS CARNIVAL – Friday, Septebmer 24 at the School.  The Carnival will be open during school hours for the students, and then OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FROM 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on that day.  There will games, prizes, food and fun for the whole family.

 

It’s APPLE BUTTER TIME at St. John United Church of Christ in Valmeyer.  They will be cooking on Saturday, September 25.  To place your advance orders call 935-2413 or 935-2452.  Prices are $6.50 per quart and $3.75 per pint.

The Village is accepting applications for the position of Rock City Gatekeeper.  This individual will monitor traffic at the Rock City Business Complex during the infrastructure construction phase.  This is a temporary part-time position.  If you are interested in applying for this position, please pick up an application at Valmeyer Village Hall.

 

A MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY IS IN NEED OF OUR ASSISTANCE. . . . . MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR A BENEFIT EVENT TO HELP MARIE MITAN WITH HER FIGHT AGAINST LEUKEMIA.  The Benefit Event will be on Friday, October 1 from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight at Turner Hall in Columbia.  Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.  The feature will be music by Pancho Vegas . . . The Party Never Ends.  The admission fee will be $10, and there will be 50/50 chances and other raffle tickets throughout the night.  A cash bar will be available.  All proceeds will benefit Marie Mitan’s fight against leukemia.  Remember Marie in your prayers.

 

MADISON MARQUARDT BENEFIT RAFFLE – Madison is the toddler daughter of Jim Marquardt of Valmeyer and the late Kelly Johnson who was killed in a hayride accident March 28, 2004.  Madison has Down Syndrome and proceeds will benefit her special needs and her education fund.  Prizes include a $100 gift certificate , handmade quilt and basket.  Tickets are available at First Bank of Valmeyer.  Drawing to be held September 26.

 

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR AUTUMN YARD . . . The Valmeyer FFA is selling MUMS at the Valmeyer High School Greenhouse behind the Ag Shop.  They are open from 12:15 to 12:45 and 2:30 to 3:30 each day at the Greenhouse.  If you have any questions, call 935-2100, extension 102.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - - - Members of the Valmeyer High School Music Department are rehearsing for their fall musical – “THE WIZARD OF OZ”.  This annual event will be on the stage at VHS on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, October 24 at 6:00 p.m.  Please note the change in weekend from past years, and mark this date on your calendar so you don’t miss a great performance!!!

 

VHS Band Instructor Mike Alexander is looking for band instruments.  If you have a trumpet or saxophone or any musical instrument collecting dust in your closet and would be willing to donate it to the School Music Department contact Mr. Alexander at School.  There is also a plea going out to former members of the High School band - - - if you have any of the band tuxedos or band dresses, please return them to Mr. Alexander in the Music Department.

 

The Valmeyer Senior Citizens will host a Pot Luck Dinner on Wednesday, September 22 at Noon at the Emergency Services Building.  Their regular monthly meeting will follow.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - - - The Valmeyer National Honor Society is once again hosting the School / Community blood drive in the High School gym on Friday, October 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  All community members are eligible to donate.  Those who donated at the last community drive are able to donate as well.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.  Refreshments and food will be served.  All donors must present identification prior to donating.  School is not in session that day, but all students 16 years of age or older are encouraged to attend.  There will be many raffle prizes and food for all students who donate.  Donors who are 16 years of age need a parent permission form signed the day of the drive.  If you have any questions, contact Becky Karsten, NHS sponsor at the School.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR COMMUNITY YARD SALE DAY – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9TH – If you are interested in participating, please contact Village Hall, as a Community Yard Sale listing will be available in town on that day.

 

Members of Valmeyer American Legion Post 901 and Auxiliary will be hosting a CHILI SUPPER ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Valmeyer American Legion Hall, 618 South Meyer Avenue in Valmeyer.  The menu will include chili, hot dogs, dessert and beverage.  The cost will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children ages 6-12, and FREE for kids under 6.  Don’t miss the food and fellowship of this event.
