To look in and not out, to look forward and not back, to
look up and not down.
IF THE ROOSTER DIES . . . . . . . BUY AN ALARM CLOCK!
Congratulations to the students of Valmeyer High School on their successful
production of “The Wizard of Oz”. The
cast and crews presented the show to large crowds over the weekend, and sent
everyone home pleasantly entertained.

A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER LIBRARY
- - - Have you seen the new lettering on the Library. Now we need a new Trustee. A Trustee’s only requirement is to live in
the Valmeyer School District. The Board of Trustees meets only 6 times a
year. A trustee gets to perform a
valuable service to the community. If
interested, contact Jacalyn Hoffmann, Board Secretary
at 458-7230 for petition information.
The election is in the Spring, and petitions are due by January 25, so
hurry and call today. The Valmeyer
Women’s Club was the initial sponsor of the Valmeyer Library in the Valmeyer School District Building. Now the School and the Library work together
to provide this facility. Stop by and
visit YOUR library.
A message from Donna Mueller, K-8 Principal
and Brian Charron, High School Principal . . . . .
the Illinois Office of Education has approved PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES FOR
THE VALMEYER SCHOOL DISTRICT ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28 AND FRIDAY, OCTOBER
29. Students will be dismissed at 2:00 p.lm. on
Thursday, October 28 and conferences will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.
On Friday, October 29 conferences will be held from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Students will
not be in attendance so that parents and teachers may meet together to discuss
ways in which teachers and parents can help each other to help the
student. Some parents feel that they
need to attend only if there is a problem.
We want to share the positive side with you, too, so please make a
supreme effort to meet with your child’s teachers. Our goal is 100% parent attendance. A 15-minute conference will be scheduled with
each teacher with whom you request a conference in grades PreK-5. If you feel fifteen minutes is not sufficient
time with a teacher, please indicate that on your request form. Conferences will be held in the home room of
individual teachers. Report cards for
Elementary students will be given to the parents at the conference. Junior High School parents may pick up their
child’s report cards from the home room teacher. Parent-teacher conferences for grades 6-8
will be in the multi purpose room.
Conferences will be on a walk-in basis for grades 6-8. Any junior high report card not picked up
during conferences will be given to the student on Monday, November 1. Parent-teacher conferences for high school
will be scheduled by appointment.
Parents may contact the high school office starting Monday, October 25
to make appointments. Report cards for
high school students will be distributed to parents as they arrive for conferences. Any high school report card not picked up
during conferences will be mailed home Monday, November 1.
VILLAGE LARGE ITEM PICKUP DAY –
NOVEMBER 11TH. . . . . Such items for pickup can include old
appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in the regular
pickup. All doors, compressors, and
electric motors must be removed from appliances. No construction materials, garbage, landscape
waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up. Items must be placed at the curb and be ready
for pickup by 6:00 a.m. on
that day.
