Tuesday, November 2 is ELECTION DAY.  No matter what your political convictions - - - exercise your right to cast your vote on that day.  Every vote is important . . . make your voice heard.

 

The members of the Valmeyer High School Music Department would like to thank the community for their overwhelming support of their recent production of “The Wizard of Oz”.  The show set an attendance record for musical productions at VHS.  A special thanks are extended to the members of the Valmeyer Fire Department - - - Scott Valentine, Rick Crossin, Lyle Schwarze and Dave Gunn - - - who assisted with the pyrotechnics for the show.

 

Because of the Election on Tuesday, the regular meeting of the Valmeyer Village Board of Trustees will be on Wednesday, November 3 at 7:30 pm at the Emergency Services Building.

 

THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL . . . . .

            Tuesday, November 2 – Junior High Girls Basketball vs. New Athens at HOME 6:00 pm            Tuesday, November 2 – Junior High Boys Basketball at SPPS – 6:00 pm.

            Thursday, November 4 – Junior High Boys Basketball at Marissa – 6:00 pm.

            Friday, November 5 – Junior High Girls Basketball at Smithton – 6:00 pm.

            Friday, November 5 – Junior High Boys Basketball at Red Bud Catholic – 6:00 pm.

            Saturday, November 6 – IMEA District VI Music Festival at SIU-Carbondale – bus leaves the High School Parking Lot at 5:30 am.      

 

Bishop Wilton Gregory will be at St. Mary Parish in Valmeyer on November 7 to celebrate a Memorial Mass for Father Edwin Hustedde.  The Mass will begin at noon on that day.

 

A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER LIBRARY - - - Have you seen the new lettering on the Library.  Now we need a new Trustee.  A Trustee’s only requirement is to live in the Valmeyer School District.  The Board of Trustees meets only 6 times a year.  A trustee gets to perform a valuable service to the community.  If interested, contact Jacalyn Hoffmann, Board Secretary at 458-7230 for petition information.  The election is in the Spring, and petitions are due by January 25, so hurry and call today.  The Valmeyer Women’s Club was the initial sponsor of the Valmeyer Library in the Valmeyer School District Building.  Now the School and the Library work together to provide this facility.  Stop by and visit YOUR library.

 

VILLAGE LARGE ITEM PICKUP DAY – NOVEMBER 11TH. . . . . Such items for pickup can include old appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in the regular pickup.  All doors, compressors, and electric motors must be removed from appliances.  No construction materials, garbage, landscape waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up.  Items must be placed at the curb and be ready for pickup by 6:00 a.m. on that day.
