Saturday, March 20 on the stage at Valmeyer High School at 7:30 p.m.
DONKEY BASKETBALL GAME - - -
Tuesday, March 23 – Valmeyer
High School Gym – 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Valmeyer FFA. Advance tickets are being sold at Mike’s
Service and at the School. Tickets for
K-8 are $3 in advance or $5 at the door . . . for ages High School and adults
the tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. The players will include teachers, alumni,
juniors and seniors. All proceeds will
benefit the Valmeyer FFA. There will
also be FREE donkey rides for kids age 12 and under.
CPR TRAINING . . . . . St. John United Church
of Christ in Valmeyer is sponsoring a CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)
training on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. The class will include training to
resuscitate infants through adults. The
cost of the class if $30 per person, however, the church has received a grant
from the Deaconess Foundation to cover $27 of this fee for the first 30 people
who make reservations and pay the remaining $3 fee. Yes, this means you can receive CPR training
for only $3 if you are one of the first 30 people to sign up and pay your
fee. Participants must be at least 10
years of age. Each participant will have
their own dummy on which to practice during the entire class. This class will be taught by an EMT certified
instructor / trainer for the American Heart Association and the National Safety
Council. To register for the class, call
Carol Nash at 935-2718. Please leave a
message if there is no answer. Sign up
ends on March 21, or when the first 30 spots have been filled. Certification of this class can be obtained,
so ask Carol for details.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS . . . . . FISH
FRY AT ST. JOHN UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST . . . Friday, March 19 with serving
from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Serving Cod and
Walleye plates and sandwiches. Plates
include Home-made potato salad, slaw and desserts. You can dine in or carry out your food. Don’t miss this opportunity to sample some
great food. The church will also be
sponsoring additional Friday Lenten fish fries, so watch for future
announcements. The last Lenten Fish Fry
will be held on April 2.
A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER
PUBLIC LIBRARY . . . . . The Valmeyer Public Library District is
celebrating its 20th Birthday.
We’re going to have an Open House to celebrate the anniversary and our
new addition. It will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on March 21, which is the anniversary of the
referendum which made us a Public Library.
We have come a long way in twenty years.
We will have a replica of the Quilt and Plaque commemorating those who
have already donated to our building.
Come to the Open House for refreshments and prizes and to see if your
name and dedication are correct. Take a
look at what services might be available to enrich your life. Don’t forget to look for Valmeyer PIRATE
Yearbooks that someone might be ready to part with so the Library can build a
complete collection for reference.

VALMEYER KINDERGARTEN
REGISTRATION AND SCREENING . . . . . The Valmeyer School District
will hold its Annual Kindergarten Registration and Screening on Wednesday,
April 14 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Please call 935-2100 for an appointment. . .
. . All students who are entering Kindergarten in the Fall must have an
appointment to be registered for School.
Children must be at least 5 years old by September 1, 2004 to legally enter Kindergarten
this August. Please bring a COPY of your
child’s birth certificate and a COPY of your child’s social security card. These copies will be kept in your child’s
permanent record - - - please bring copies!
REMEMBER - - - appointments are required for the Kindergarten
registration and screening. Please call
the Unit Office at 935-2100 to schedule an appointment by Wednesday, April 7th.
TICKETS HAVE ALL BEEN SOLD – NAMES
ARE NOW BEING PUT ON A WAITING LIST !!!!!!!!!!!!!! . . . . . The Valmeyer School Music Boosters will present “MEET
ME AT THE FAIR” their annual Dinner / Theater / Auction on Saturday, March
27 at the School Multi-Purpose Room. Tickets are $18.00 each and are available
at First Bank in Valmeyer, Mike’s Convenience, Valmeyer Village Hall, First
National Bank of Waterloo
or at Valmeyer School.
Ticket purchase deadline is Wednesday, March 10th. All proceeds from this event benefit the Valmeyer School Music Program.
The Music Boosters would like to
give a big and hearty “THANK YOU” to all those who donated baskets for the
upcoming dinner theater. At this time no
more baskets are needed.
It’s not too early to start thinking
about the ALWAYS ANNUAL – ALWAYS A GOOD TIME – VALMEYER ALUMNI BANQUET AND
DANCE. The date for the event this year
is Saturday, May 8, 2004
with dinner at the School at 5:30
p.m. and a dance to follow at the Firehouse at 8:00 p.m. with music by Route 3. The dance will include music for the “older”
alumni early in the evening, moving to louder and faster music for the “youngies” later on.
The classes of 1954 and 1979 will be receiving special honors at the
banquet. Reserve the date now, and watch
for future announcements about the availability of tickets. If you have any questions, contact Brad Rippelmeyer, President of the Valmeyer Alumni Association.
