            Wednesday, December 22 – Teacher Institute – NO SCHOOL.

            Thursday, December 23 – Winter Break begins.

            Monday, December 27 – High School Boys Basketball – Freeburg / Columbia Holiday

                        Tourney.  Freeburg vs. Valmeyer at 11:30 a.m.

            Tuesday, December 28 – High School Boys Basketball – Freeburg / Columbia Holiday

                        Tourney.  Valmeyer vs. Red Bud at 11:30 a.m.  Valmeyer vs. Waterloo at 8:30 p.m.

            Wednesday, December 29 – High School Boys Basketball – Freeburg / Columbia Holiday

                        Tourney.  Valmeyer vs. Gibault at 11:30 a.m.

            Monday, January 3 – Winter Break ends – School resumes.

            Monday, January 3 – High School Girls Basketball vs. Mt. Olive at HOME – 6:00 p.m.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS to attend the Valmeyer Jaycees’ Annual Fundraising Dance – Friday, January 28, 2005 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight at the Hecker Community Center.  Music will be provided by “Aftershock” (former members of Route 3).  Proceeds from this event will benefit the restoration of the Missouri Pacific Caboose at Borsch Park in memory of Melvin Fisher.

 

Have you seen the new holiday banners in town ???   Those were purchased by the Valmeyer Jaycees.

 

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY AT THE VALMEYER POST OFFICE will be held on Monday, December 20.  The Postmaster and her staff would like to thank everyone for their patronage throughout the year.  Please come in and enjoy snacks and a drink while you visit and mail your last minute cards and packages.  You can also do some shopping while you’re here.  A large variety of stamps, stamped envelopes, stamp yearbooks, and Postal Bears are available.  Stamps and Bears make the best and unique stocking stuffers.  Everyone loves them and can use them.  Holiday Hours for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are 7:00 – 11:30 a.m.  There is mail delivery both days.

 

The Valmeyer Optimist Club and the Valmeyer Music Boosters are co-sponsoring a Student Talent Showcase on Friday, January 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Gym.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS GREAT EVENT!!!

 

Applications are now available for NOMINATION FOR CONSIDERATION FOR YEAR 2005 INDUCTION INTO THE VALMEYER SCHOOL MUSIC HALL OF FAME.  Nominees for induction do not need to be VHS graduates, must be at least 23 years of age, can be living or deceased and should be nominated for their outstanding abilities in music and/or dance, or because of their outstanding service or contributions to the field of music.  Nomination does not guarantee induction, but applications of those not inducted will be held over for future years.  New members of the Music Hall of Fame will be inducted at the Music Boosters Dinner Theater event to be held on Saturday, March 19.  For more information or to pick up an application contact Marcia Braswell or Mike Alexander at School.  Applications are due by January 14, 2005.
