St. John United Church of Christ in Valmeyer is sponsoring a CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) training class on March 20 at 6:30 p.m.  The class will include training to resuscitate infants through adults.  The cost of the class is $30, however St. John has received a grant from the Deaconess Foundation to cover $27 of the class fee for the first 30 people to make reservations.  This means you can participate in this CPR training class for just $3 per person, if you are one of the first 30 to sign up and pay the $3 registration fee.  Participants must be at least 10 years of age.  Each participant will have their own mannequin / dummy on which to practice during the entire class (there will be no waiting in line to practice).  This course will be taught by Stacy Graff, an EMT and certified instructor / trainer for the American Heart Association and the National Safety Council.  To register for the class, sign up at the St. John UCC church office, or contact Pastor David Riebeling or Pat Garleb at the church office at 935-2240.  Pat may also be contacted at home at 935-2413.  Remember the first 30 persons paying their $3 fee will be guaranteed the $27 training scholarship.

Watch for big changes at Borsch Memorial Park.  The Jaycees have just embarked on a major renovation project there.  A new grandstand and pavilion area will be added behind the home plate area.  This will be a major improvement as it will provide a large area of shaded seating.  This project will also include the replacement of the backstop between the two dugouts.  All work will be completed for the start of the summer baseball season.
