IF THE ROOSTER DIES . . . . . . . BUY AN ALARM CLOCK!

BLOOD DRIVE - - - BLOOD DRIVE - - - BLOOD DRIVE - - - BLOOD DRIVE - - - THE VHS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY is hosting a Blood Drive in the High School Gym on Friday, October 3 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The High School drive will be less than 56 days from the August Valmeyer community drive, so people who donated in August WILL NOT be eligible to donate.  Anyone who was unable to donate at the August drive is encouraged to come to the High School drive on October 3.  Donated items are being requested for attendance prizes for those who donate.  All donations are appreciated.  If you have any questions, contact Becky Karsten, National Honor Society sponsor at the School.

 

St. John United Church of Christ will be cooking apple butter on October 4.  The cost of the delicious spread will be $6.50 per quart and $3.75 per pint.  Anyone wishing to place advance orders should contact Pat Garleb at 935-2413 or Joyce Rippelmeyer at 935-2452.

                Wednesday, October 1 – Magazine Sales Campaign begins.

                Thursday, October 2 – High School Golf at Okawville.

                Thursday, October 2 – High School Volleyball at Dupo.

                Friday, October 3 – National Honor Society Blood Drive in the High School Gym 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

                Friday, October 3 – High School Golf vs. Gibault / Waterloo at HOME.

                Saturday, October 4 – High School Volleyball at Sparta Tournament.

 

If you haven’t purchased an engraved paving stone for the VALMEYER SCHOOL MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN, time is running out!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Paving stones are available in two sizes . . . 4” x 8” and 8” x 8”.  The current sales campaign will end on September 30.  If you need additional info, or are interested in purchasing a paver, contact Marcia Braswell, Caryl Fay Sondag, Donna Mueller, Dorothy Schilling, Barb Kendall, Tammy Crossin, Anna Glaenzer or Dennis Knobloch.  THOSE PAVERS SOLD DURING THIS SALES CAMPAIGN WILL BE ORDERED AFTER SEPTEMBER 30, AND WEATHER PERMITTING WILL BE PLACED INTO THE FOUNTAIN PATIO BEFORE WINTER. 

 

VALMEYER COMMUNTIY YARD SALE – Saturday October 4 – beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until you sell all of your excess merchandise, or you get tired of having people walk through your garage.  Please register your sale with the Village Office.  If you have any questions, contact Laurie at the Village Office.

 

Valmeyer C.U.S.D.#3 will be accepting sealed bids for an older model small IH McCormick Farmall Cub tractor and blade.  Bids will be accepted at the Unit Office until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, at which time they will be opened.  Contact Steve Laur at 935-2100 or Vince Siburt at 935-2283 for information.  The tractor can be seen at the bus garage located behind the School.

 

CANCER BENEFIT for former Valmeyer resident Gene Schreder, diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma in May, 2003 will be held on Sunday, October 12 at the Waterloo VFW from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Music will be by Moe Cash, plus a cash bar, snacks and 50/50 drawings.  Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance by calling 939-3029 or 935-2992.

 

The School is still recycling inkjet and / or laser toner cartridges.  Please drop them off at Rich Kasson’s office, the Library or at either the Unit Office or the High School Office.  If you have any questions, call Mr. Kasson at School.

 

On October 11, the USPS will issue its third semipostal stamp . . . the Stop Family Violence stamp.  Funds raised from the stamp will be transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services for domestic violence programs.  Other similar issues by the USPS . . . the Breast Cancer Research and the Heroes of 2001 stamps have raised millions of dollars for their respective causes.  Purchases of the Heroes of 2001 stamps generated $8.4 million in aid to the families of rescue workers killed or permanently disabled in the September 11 terrorist attacks.
