A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY . . . . . Yes, the Library is open again.  Thanks for your patience during our building project.  We have extended our fall hours to 8:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, instead of 7:30 p.m.  One of the FEATURES OF THE MONTH for September is hunting videos.  If you’re into hunting deer, elk, etc., come in and check them out.  Some people borrow them just for the scenery.  The NEW ADDITION is coming along, but right now we are waiting for windows.  They are not expected until mid-September, but we hope to be finished by mid-October.  New books arrive almost daily, so start your winter reading habit early.  Come check out some reading material, or check our link off the school website (see address below), which contains a list of “New Stuff” and other information.

RECYCLING DAY – Saturday, September 6 – Please have your items for recycling at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on that day.  Items to be recycled include newspapers, aluminum cans, tin cans, glass separated by color, and type 1 and 2 plastic containers.

REMEMBER . . . . . THE FALL CHURCH PICNIC sponsored by St. John United Church of Christ and St. Mary Catholic Church on Sunday, September 21 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on the Church grounds.  Food will include Barbecue plates and sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with plenty of cold drinks.  There will be raffles, a cake walk, games for kids and adults, a country store and music all day.  Don’t miss this event!

If you haven’t purchased an engraved paving stone for the VALMEYER SCHOOL MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN, you still have time.  Work is now underway on completing the Fountain.  The engraved pavers that were already purchased have been installed in front of the Fountain.  The Memorial will be dedicated at a ceremony on September 21.  Paving stones are available in two sizes . . . 4” x 8” and 8” x 8”.  You can have up to 6 lines of print on the larger paving stones.  If  you need additional info, or are interested in purchasing a paver, contact Marcia Braswell, Caryl Fay Sondag, Donna Mueller, Dorothy Schilling, Barb Kendall, Tammy Crossin, Anna Glaenzer or Dennis Knobloch.
