To look in and not out, to look forward and not back, to look up and
not down.
IF THE ROOSTER DIES . . . . . . . BUY AN ALARM CLOCK!
Fall is the time of
year when your yard has that washed-out look from the effects of the hot and
dry summer weather. Now is the perfect
time to brighten up your yard with some beautiful fall flowering mums from the
FFA Greenhouse. Members of the FFA will
be on hand Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon to assist you with
your purchase of these beautiful flowers.
You will also be able to purchase tilapia, the delicious fish raised by
Valmeyer FFA members. Mark your
calendars to stop by the FFA Greenhouse on Saturday for FISH AND FLOWERS.
The Valmeyer
Jaycees golf tournament is right around the corner. It’s time to make your reservations for this
event which will be held on Friday, September 19th at the Acorns
Golf Course. The tournament will be set
up as an 18-hole, 4-person scramble, and will include golf, beverages and good
food. There will be a shotgun start at
1:30 p.m. Entry fee includes golf and
cart, beverages for 5 hours, and a barbecue buffet. Call three of your friends and join in the fun. You can have all of this for a meager $60
per person entry fee. Hole sponsors are
still needed at this point. To register
for the tournament or be a hole sponsor, contact the Valmeyer Jaycees, P. O.
Box 254, Valmeyer, Illinois, 62295, or contact Lyn May at 939-7213.

A MESSAGE FROM
THE VALMEYER PUBLIC LIBRARY . . . . . Yes, the Library is
open again. Thanks for your patience
during our building project. We have
extended our fall hours to 8:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, instead of 7:30
p.m. One of the FEATURES OF THE MONTH
for September is hunting videos. If
you’re into hunting deer, elk, etc., come in and check them out. Some people borrow them just for the
scenery. The NEW ADDITION is coming
along, but right now we are waiting for windows. They are not expected until mid-September, but we hope to be
finished by mid-October. New books
arrive almost daily, so start your winter reading habit early. Come check out some reading material, or
check our link off the school website (see address below), which contains a
list of “New Stuff” and other information.
REMEMBER, the
FALL CHURCH PICNIC sponsored by St. John United Church of Christ and St. Mary
Catholic Church on Sunday, September 21 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on
the Church grounds. Food will include
Barbecue plates and sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with plenty of
cold drinks. There will be raffles, a
cake walk, games for kids and adults, a country store and music all day. Don’t miss this event!
If you haven’t
purchased an engraved paving stone for the VALMEYER SCHOOL MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN,
you still have time. Work is now
underway on completing the Fountain.
The engraved pavers that were already purchased have been installed in
front of the Fountain. The Memorial
will be dedicated at a ceremony on September 21. Paving stones are available in two sizes . . . 4” x 8” and 8” x
8”. You can have up to 6 lines of print
on the larger paving stones. If you
need additional info, or are interested in purchasing a paver, contact Marcia
Braswell, Caryl Fay Sondag, Donna Mueller, Dorothy Schilling, Barb Kendall,
