The Valmeyer Village Office will be CLOSED on the following dates:

                Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28 – Thanksgiving Holiday

 

The VALMEYER SENIOR CITIZENS will hold their regular monthly meeting at 1:00 p.m. on November 19th at the Emergency Services Building.  Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend this meeting.

 

The Valmeyer Cub Scouts will be participating in the SCOUTING FOR FOOD CAMPAIGN during the month of November.  On Saturday, November 15 the Scouts distributed plastic bags to all Village residents.  On Saturday, November 22, the Scouts will return to pick up the bags that you have filled with grocery items.  Please be generous in filling these bags as these items go to local food pantries to help out those in need.  For further information, contact Todd Hildreth at 935-0500.

 

The Village of Valmeyer will be sponsoring a LARGE ITEM PICKUP DAY on Thursday, November 20.  Items that can be placed at the curb for pickup include old appliances, furniture, etc. that are too large to be included in the regular pickup.  All doors, compressors and electric motors must be removed from appliances.  No construction materials, garbage, landscape waste, grass clippings, leaves, tires or gas tanks will be picked up.  Items must be placed at the curb and be ready for pickup by 6:00 a.m.  For more information, contact Valmeyer Village Hall.

                Tuesday, November 18 – High School Girls Basketball at the Dupo Cat Classic.

                                First game is Valmeyer vs. Waterloo at 6:00 p.m.

                Tuesday, November 18 – Junior High Girls Basketball against New Athens at HOME.

                Tuesday, November 18 – Junior High Boys Basketball at Columbia.

                Wednesday, November 19 – Crop Judging Contest in the Ag Room – 6:00 p.m.

                Thursday, November 20 – Junior High Girls Basketball at Freeburg.

                Friday, November 21 – Junior High Boys Basketball against Smithton at HOME.

 

2004 Valmeyer Youth Sports Association Basketball and Cheerleading - - - sign up on Thursday, November 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the Junior High Basketball Game and on Saturday, November 22 at the Junior High Lobby from 9:00 a.m. until Noon.  Games are played at Valmeyer School . . . . . there will be separate boys and girls teams . . . . . registration and all fees are due at sign up . . . . . Kindergarten through 8th grade students eligible . . . . . cost is $35 for the first child, $30 for the second child, and $20 for each additional child, and $25 registration fee for 5 on 5.  Late fee charge of $10 assessed for registration after sign up dates.  For more information contact Allen Maus at 939-6065, Kelly Richards at 935-2303 or Scott Rippelmeyer at 935-2431.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS . . . VALMEYER FFA POINSETTIA OPEN HOUSE at the Valmeyer High School FFA Greenhouse - - - Saturday, December 6 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Poinsettias will be available in red, pink, white and variegated.  The greenhouse will also be open from noon until 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. on each school day.  For more information contact 935-2100, extension 102.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS . . . A GREAT PLACE FOR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING . . . FARM TOY SHOW at Valmeyer High School - - - Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Admission for all is $1.00.  This event sponsored by the Valmeyer FFA Alumni.

 

Applications are currently being accepted for nominations for those to be inducted in 2004 to the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame.  Nominees:

·         do not need to be VHS graduates . . . must be at least 23 years of age . . . can be living or deceased . . .

·         will be inducted into the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame because of their outstanding abilities in music and / or dance performance, because of their outstanding service as music educators, or because they have made an outstanding contribution to music in the school and / or the community.  Induction may be because of any one or more of the previously listed criteria.
