Featured stamp for the Gateway District Breast Cancer Research Postal Campaign.  HELP SUPPORT BREAST CANCER RESEARCH.  Buy the breast cancer research stamp for 45 cents.  Not only does this stamp provide postage, but 8 cents from every stamp goes toward breast cancer research.  Every purchase is a step closer to finding a cure.  You can purchase this special stamp through May 16th at the Valmeyer Post Office.

 

Saturday, May 10 – OPEN HOUSE FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL NOON.  Be sure to stop by the FFA PLANT SALE AT THE FFA GREENHOUSE AT SCHOOL.  The students have an excellent variety of healthy and beautiful plants and rose bushes.  You can stop by the greenhouse during lunch or after School every day.  THERE’S NO BETTER WAY TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR YARD FOR SPRING!

                Thursday, May 8 – K-4 Spring Concert in the Multi-Purpose Room.

                Friday, May 9 – High School Baseball against Nashville at HOME.

                Saturday, May 10 – Greenhouse Open House.

                Saturday, May 10 – High School Baseball at Lebanon (DH).

 

OPERATION KIDS CARE - - - The Valmeyer Elementary teachers would like to thank the community for turning a school service project – Operation Kids Care – into a successful community project.  Special thanks goes to all our students who kindly gave donations for our military, MAR Business Forms and their employees for additional donations and boxes, Valmeyer American Legion Post 901 and their Auxiliary, Wal-Mart, and local families for sponsoring postage to mail all 56 boxes.  Your contributions also made it possible for us to use special postage that will support breast cancer research.  Thanks for showing the kids how much we care for one another. . . . . . . . . from the Valmeyer Elementary Teachers.

 

Members of the VHS Band and Chorus would like to thank all the members of the community who supported their trip to the Heritage Music Festival in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Both groups earned a Silver performance rating award and VHS also won the “Spirit of Colorado Springs Award” - - - the contest spirit award.  Jenny Krebel and Josh Glaenzer accepted the awards on behalf of the members of both groups.  Contrary to some reports, their buses were not involved in any accidents during the trip.  Congratulations to these students on their fine performance and representation of our community.

 

JUST AROUND THE CORNER . . . . . The Valmeyer High School Alumni Banquet and Dance will be held May 10.  The banquet will be in the School Cafeteria at 6:00 p.m. followed by a dance at the Emergency Services Building from 8:30 to midnight.  The menu for dinner will include BBQ riblets, oven baked chicken, German potato salad, baked beans, corn cobbets, salad bar and dessert.  Music at the dance will be provided by Cumberland Gap.  If you want mixed drinks at the dance you will have to bring your own fixings, and the Firemen will be selling canned beer.  Classes receiving special honors at the banquet will be the classes of 1953 and 1978.  Ticket prices are Dinner and Dance - $15.00; Dinner only - $12.00 and Dance only - $5.00.  Tickets may be purchased at Valmeyer Village Hall, First Bank in Valmeyer, and Mike’s Convenience Store. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – COMMUNITY YARD SALE DAY – SATURDAY, MAY 10.

 

The Dixie Hicks “Relay for Life” team will be having a GARAGE AND BAKE SALE at the Emergency Services Building on May 10 from 8:00 a.m. until ?????  Bring your discarded treasures to Village Hall by May 3rd. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
