St. John United Church of Christ in
Valmeyer has announced their schedule of
Fish Fries . . . . . these events will be held on Friday, March 21 and
Friday, April 4. Serving will be from
3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on those days with eat in or carry out available. Cod and walleye plates and sandwiches will
be available. Plates will include a
choice of two sides - - - home made German potato salad, cole slaw, and french
fries - - - and a choice of dessert.
Beverages will also be available.
The
Police and Fire Departments of Monroe County have begun an effort to become
members of The Backstoppers. This organization
offers assistance to the members of city and county police and fire
departments, including volunteer fire departments. Benefits are available to the families of individuals who die in
the line of duty. The Backstoppers is a
great organization, and this is a great benefit to have available to those who
put their lives on the line during the course of their work. Financial support for this group comes from
the donations of individuals. If you
are interested in supporting this cause please contact Valmeyer Police Chief
Paul James.

March 22 at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $10
per person with 6 to 8 people at a table.
All proceeds benefit the St. John UCC Sunday School. Please No Alcohol allowed on premises. Refreshments will be available. For reservations or more information call

Congratulations
to the Valmeyer School Music Hall of Fame Class of 2003. These new members were inducted during a
ceremony at the Westward Ho Dinner Theater on Saturday, March 8. New members are Marilyn Schewe Ahrens, Tammy
Lerch Duffy, Matthew Hoffmann, Paul Randolph (deceased) and Pat Mueller Roever.
The
Valmeyer Senior Citizens will have a pot luck meal at the
Emergency Services Building at noon on March 26th and their regular
meeting will follow.
On March 28, the Valmeyer High School Pirates baseball team will play Okawville
at GMC Stadium (the home of the Gateway Grizzlies) in Sauget at 4:00 p.m.
Work is now well underway on the grandstand improvements to Borsch Park. Volunteer members of Valmeyer’s civic
organizations have been busy there.

The Valmeyer
School District will hold its annual Kindergarten Registration on Monday,
April 14 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Please
call 935-2100 for an appointment. All
students who are entering Kindergarten in the Fall must have an appointment to
be registered. Children must be at
least 5 years old by September 1, 2003 to legally enter Kindergarten this
August. Please bring a COPY of your child’s birth certificate
and a COPY of your child’s social
security card. These copies will be
kept in your child’s permanent record – remember, please bring copies! Please call by April 7th to
schedule your appointment.
