RECYCLING DAY – Saturday, June 21 – Please have your recycle items at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on that day.  Items that can be recycled include newspapers, tin cans, aluminum cans, glass separated by color and type 1 and 2 plastic containers.

 

St. John United Church of Christ is planning a CHICKEN DINNER on Saturday, June 28 with serving from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  You can dine in or carry out.  Meals will include corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy.  Dessert is included with your meal.  Prices will be $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children.

 

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL BAND MEMBERS - - - Don’t forget about High School Band Camp - - - June 30th to July 3rd from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at School.  These rehearsals are in preparation for the Valmeyer Parade on July 6th.

 

Jean Jacobs, former Home Economics teacher at Valmeyer High School is looking for Valmeyer High School Yearbooks from the years 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974.  If you have any extras or know of someone who does call Mrs. Jacobs collect at 662-365-8891 or email her at Jean.Jacobs@worldnet.ah.net.

 

The 2003 Valmeyer Midsummer Celebration is just around the corner and the Valmeyer Jaycees and the Valmeyer Lakers have announced the schedule for the holiday weekend.  The new grandstand structure will be completed, but unfortunately, the grandstand seating will not be installed before the Midsummer Celebration.  Please, pardon the inconvenience, but you’ll need to bring your lawn chairs to watch the baseball action during the July 4th weekend.

            THE MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION SCHEDULE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

Thursday, July 3rd -   Music by Route 3 from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

            Friday, July 4th -                     Baseball beginning at 9:00 a.m.

                                                            Spades Tournament at 1:00 p.m.

                                                            SpongeBob SquarePants Moonwalker from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

                                                            Dedication of the Borsch Memorial Park Renovation Project prior

                                                                        to the Valmeyer Lakers game at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Music by Midnight Drive from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

            Saturday, July 5th -    Baseball beginning at 9:00 a.m.

                                                            Volleyball Tournament beginning at 10:00 a.m.

                                                            RCTPA Lawn Tractor Pull beginning at Noon.

                                                            Music by Route 3 from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

            Sunday, July 6th -                   Baseball beginning at 10:00 a.m.

                                                            Parade at 1:00 p.m. – Theme “Sunday Comics – the Funny Pages”

                                                            Championship Baseball Game – 3:00 p.m.

                                                            SpongeBob SquarePants Moonwalker from 10:00 a.m. to Dusk.

                                                            Colossal Fireworks at Dusk.

           

The Valmeyer Library is looking for photographers and technical buffs (actors, dancers, etc.) to present programs at the LIGHTS, CAMERA, READ! SUMMER READING PROGRAM.  Contact the Library at 935-2626 with suggestions, ideas or for scheduling information.
