2003 was a busy year for the Village.  The 10-year anniversary of the 1993 flood came and went with little fanfare, but with a lot of memories for those who experienced that event.  Members of the Valmeyer Jaycees spearheaded a major renovation project with the reconstruction of a large, covered pavilion at Borsch Park.  Construction activity was the order of the day at the School as well, as the Library completed a new addition, and the Fountain was completed and dedicated.  The Fall Church Picnic, sponsored by the congregations of St. John UCC and St. Mary Catholic was once again a popular community event, and we thank those churches for their continued contribution to the Village.  The Village lost a good friend with the passing of Village Attorney Doug Dusek.  Village resident, John Harper completed a fund raising project for the benefit of the Valmeyer Community Heritage Society, which has proven to be successful for the organization.  One year ago, the big news of the year 2002 was the record amount of development that took place in the Village during that year.  At the risk of sounding like a broken record, that is once again the top story for the year 2003.  Lot sales, home construction and development have continued at a record pace.  As of this writing all lots in the original Phases 1-5 have been contracted, with only lots in Phase 6 still available for sale by the Village.
