The Valmeyer Senior Citizens will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 23 at the Emergency Services Building at 1:00 p.m.  Janet Rippelmeyer from First National Bank of Waterloo will be in attendance at the meeting.

 

The Valmeyer Boy Scouts will be picking up trash around town on Saturday, April 26th.  Thanks to the Boy Scouts for this service project.  If you have any questions, please contact Joe Andres.

 

Saturday, April 26 – Be sure to stop by the FFA PLANT SALE AT THE FFA GREENHOUSE AT SCHOOL between 9:00 a.m. and Noon.  The students have an excellent variety of healthy and beautiful plants and rose bushes.  You can also stop by the greenhouse during lunch or after School every day.  It’s a great way to brighten up your house for Spring!

St. John United Church of Christ is planning a new “PHONE BUDDY” SYSTEM.  This program would provide a daily contact with the Senior Citizens of the community to check on their needs and well-being.  If you have an interest in participating in this program - - - as a caller or a participant - please call the Church office at 935-2240 and leave a message.

            Monday, April 21 – Spring Break – No School.

            Tuesday, April 22 – High School Softball against New Athens at HOME.

            Tuesday, April 22 – High School Baseball at Trico.

            Wednesday, April 23 – High School Softball and Baseball against Gibault at HOME.

            Thursday, April 24 – High School Chorus and Band students depart for Colorado Springs – 2:00 p.m.

            Saturday, April 26 – FFA Greenhouse plant sale – 9:00 a.m. until noon.

            Sunday, April 27 – High School Chorus and Band students return home – Midnight.

 

The Valmeyer High School Chorus and Band would like to thank their fellow students, teachers and staff at CUSD #3, along with all the members of the community for all of their financial assistance and moral support to get ready for their trip to Colorado Springs to perform in the Heritage Music Festival.  They will do their best to represent VHS and the community proudly.

 

Work continues at Borsch Park on the new grandstands.  Cruise by and check out the progress.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the project, call Doug Sondag, Dennis Kipping, George Brady or Allyn Rohlfing.

 

JUST AROUND THE CORNER . . . . . The Valmeyer High School Alumni Banquet and Dance will be held May 10.  The banquet will be in the School Cafeteria at 6:00 p.m. followed by a dance at the Emergency Services Building from 8:30 to midnight.  The menu for dinner will include BBQ riblets, oven baked chicken, German potato salad, baked beans, corn cobbets, salad bar and dessert.  Music at the dance will be provided by Cumberland Gap.  If you want mixed drinks at the dance you will have to bring your own fixings, and the Firemen will be selling canned beer.  Classes receiving special honors at the banquet will be the classes of 1953 and 1978.  Ticket prices are Dinner and Dance - $15.00; Dinner only - $12.00 and Dance only - $5.00.  Tickets may be purchased at Valmeyer Village Hall, First Bank in Valmeyer, and Mike’s Convenience Store. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – COMMUNITY YARD SALE DAY – SATURDAY, MAY 10.

 

The Dixie Hicks “Relay for Life” team will be having a GARAGE AND BAKE SALE at the Emergency Services Building on May 10 from 8:00 a.m. until ?????  Bring your discarded treasures to Village Hall by May 3rd. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
