at the Corner Pub sponsored by the Valmeyer Jaycees and the Corner Pub with all
entrance fee proceeds to benefit the Valmeyer First Responders. Entry fee is $10 / person with 4-person
teams. Cash prizes will be
awarded. Registration begins at 6:30
p.m. with trivia beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Members of the Valmeyer High School
Music Department are busy practicing for their
Fall Musical production of BYE BYE BIRDIE. This is shaping up to be a great show, so be sure to plan on
attending this VHS production.

MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT . . . . .
October 6-12 is National Fire Prevention Week.
Members of the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department will visit Valmeyer
Grade School during that week to teach fire prevention and safety to grades
K-4. Fall weather and the holidays are
just around the corner. All home smoke
detectors should be tested during Fire Prevention Week. If you need a new battery installed or
assistance testing your smoke detector, call 935-2221. Leave your name, address and phone number
prior to October 7. The public is
invited to attend activities on Saturday, Oct. 12 related to Fire Prevention
Week:
5:00
p.m. Open house at the firehouse with a display of equipment and trucks.
5:30
p.m. Guest speakers including federal, state and local politicians. Including a salute to 9-11-01 heroes, fire
prevention, fire safety and dedication of new pumper.
6:30
p.m. Refreshments will be served.
7:00
p.m. Dance music provided by DJ Nick Pagamo of Throbberjocki Productions.
The Valmeyer Fire Department received a $50,000 grant from the U. S.
Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development program. The grant money was used toward the purchase of a 1999
International Navistar midship crew cab pumper. The truck has 1000 gallon tank, 1250 gpm pump, 5000 watt
generator and a master stream deck gun.
The total price for the truck was $134,500. Members of the Valmeyer Fire Department and First Responders
would like to meet all the taxpayers and citizens of the District. This is your Fire Department, we can answer
calls only with your support. Thank
you, for your year round support.
Please join the
Valmeyer Fire Department and First Responders and show your appreciation to the
federal, state and local elected officials who have helped us obtain grant
money to purchase the new fire truck and other equipment.
