TO LOOK OUT, AND NOT IN – TO LOOK UP, AND NOT DOWN – TO LOOK FORWARD, AND NOT BACK

IF THE ROOSTER DIES, BUY AN ALARM CLOCK

The tanks are in the ground, the pumps are set on the islands and the gas is in the tanks.  On Monday a representative of the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s office is scheduled to make a final inspection of the gasoline sales setup at Mike’s Service and barring some unexpected problem, THE GAS PUMPS WILL BE UP AND RUNNING AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS BY TOMORROW EVENING.  DON’T FORGET TO STOP FOR A FILL UP BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!

Several weeks ago an old friend left the Valmeyer landscape.  Because of structural problems the pavilion next to the baseball field at Borsch Park was taken down.  This structure was erected in the fall of 1975 by the Valmeyer Jaycees.  The ghost of that structure could tell some great stories, just like the people that rested in its shade.  During the past 27 years it has seen a lot of action during activities at Borsch Park.  It was bright and shiny new for America’s Bicentennial celebration in 1976, and it stood strong during the flood waters of 1993.  Plans are currently being made for construction of a new pavilion to replace the earlier model.
