Tuesday, October 29 – Junior High Girls Basketball against SPPS at HOME.

Wednesday, October 30 – Sophomores pick up class rings and Seniors place announcement orders – 7:30 a.m. in the High School Lobby.

Wednesday, October 30 – National FFA Convention – 10/30 – 11/2.

Friday, November 1 – Junior High Girls Basketball at Marissa.

Friday, November 1 – Junior High Boys Basketball against Red Bud at HOME.

The School is offering email accounts to Village residents for $10 per year. They are available immediately. For more information contact Rich Kasson, the Valmeyer School Tech Coordinator.

DON’T MISS THE 6^TH ANNUAL VALMEYER OPTIMIST HALLOWEEN PARTY on October 31, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. or so. This event will feature a scavenger hunt starting at Mike’s Convenience Store. Prizes will be awarded for First Place in three age categories - - - Pre K through 4^th grade - - - 5^th through 8^th grade - - - and High School and up. All scavenger hunt teams can have no more than 4 members. No driving teams are allowed. You must sign up by 7:00 p.m. Food and drinks will be served at Mike’s and hayrides will be running in town to help everyone get around. The best part is, it’s all free. This event is sponsored by the Valmeyer Optimist Club with help from the American Legion, Mike’s Convenience Store and the Valmeyer Fire Department.

RECYCLING DAY – Saturday, November 2 – Please have your recyclable items at the curb by 8:00 a.m. that day.

A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER POST OFFICE . . . . . . October is National Stamp Collecting Month. The recently issued American Bats stamps will be the focus of this month’s celebration. Your post office is one of the most effective ways to spread the word about National Stamp Collecting Month. Collecting stamps is fun, educational and easy. It is also a great hobby for children and families. For more information contact Alice at the Post Office.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS – TRIVIA NIGHT – Saturday, November 9 – at the Corner Pub sponsored by the Valmeyer Jaycees and the Corner Pub with all entrance fee proceeds to benefit the Valmeyer First Responders. Entry fee is $10 / person with 4-person teams. Cash prizes will be awarded. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with trivia beginning at 7:00 p.m. To reserve a table call Sharon May at 935-2611 or Margaret Brady at 935-2264.

Congratulations to the following High School Chorus members selected for the IMEA District Music Festival at SIU-C on November 9 - - Madelyn Stutsman, Valerie Dillard, Jenny Krebel, Stephanie Hirsch, Caitlin Martin, Julie Unterseh, Josh Glaenzer, Kyle Felix, Kyle Duffy and Jon Schwarze. . . . . . . . and to the Junior High Students selected for performing with the Band and/or Chorus at the same event - - Austin Clayton, Laurie Barchet, Erin Shevlin, Heather Weber, Emelie Schwarze, Kyle Hoffmann, Ray Brandt, Jon Maus, Adam Prange, Nick Erzinger, Andrew Heavner, Matt Stuckmeyer, Scott Richards, Lee Langsdorf, Josh Cover, Mike Erzinger and Mike Rednour.

Interviews will be conducted with Engineering firms this week to determine which companies will perform the final engineering for the Rock City Business Complex. Final plan and design will begin after this part of the project is awarded next week.
