The School is collecting empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges to recycle as a fundraiser.  These items can be dropped off at the Unit office.  If you have any questions, contact Tech Director, Rich Kasson at the School.

 

Have you seen all the digging going on at Mike’s Service and Convenience.  THEY’RE COMING . . . GAS PUMPS.  Watch for more progress on this project in the coming weeks.  Don’t forget to stop by and tell Mike how glad you are that this service is being added to our community

 

The Valmeyer Senior Citizens will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Emergency Services Building.

 

Thanks to Marty Kohlenberger for his years of service as a Trustee on the Valmeyer Village Board.  Marty recently resigned and Howard Heavner graciously agreed to fill Marty’s remaining term.  Welcome aboard to Howard.  For anyone interested, petition packets are currently available from Village Clerk, Laurie Brown, for three Trustee positions which will be on the ballot on April 1, 2003.

                Thursday, October 24 – Students dismissed at 2:00 p.m. for Parent Teacher Conferences.

                Thursday, October 24 – Parent Teacher Conferences 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

                Thursday, October 24 – Junior High Girls Basketball at Red Bud.

                Friday, October 25 – NO SCHOOL – Parent Teacher Conferences.

                Friday, October 25 – Parent Teacher Conferences from 8:00 a.m. until Noon.

                Friday, October 25 – High School Volleyball at Trico.

 

High School Chorus and Band members are selling cheesecakes by pre-order until Monday, October 28 to earn funds for a possible spring trip. Cost is $12.00 each and delivery is the third week of November.  If you are interested in ordering please contact any high school chorus or band member.

 

The School is offering email accounts to Village residents for $10 per year.  They are available immediately.  For more information contact Rich Kasson, the Valmeyer School Tech Coordinator.

 

DON’T MISS THE 6TH ANNUAL VALMEYER OPTIMIST HALLOWEEN PARTY on October 31, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. or so.  This event will feature a scavenger hunt starting at Mike’s Convenience Store.  Prizes will be awarded for First Place in three age categories - - - Pre K through 4th grade - - - 5th through 8th grade - - - and High School and up.  All scavenger hunt teams can have no more than 4 members.  No driving teams are allowed.  You must sign up by 7:00 p.m.  Food and drinks will be served at Mike’s and hayrides will be running in town to help everyone get around.  The best part is, it’s all free.  This event is sponsored by the Valmeyer Optimist Club with help from the American Legion, Mike’s Convenience Store and the Valmeyer Fire Department.

 

A MESSAGE FROM THE VALMEYER POST OFFICE . . . . . . October is National Stamp Collecting Month.  The recently issued American Bats stamps will be the focus of this month’s celebration.  Your post office is one of the most effective ways to spread the word about National Stamp Collecting Month.  Collecting stamps is fun, educational and easy.  It is also a great hobby for children and families. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – TRIVIA NIGHT – Saturday, November 9 – at the Corner Pub sponsored by the Valmeyer Jaycees and the Corner Pub with all entrance fee proceeds to benefit the Valmeyer First Responders.  Entry fee is $10 / person with 4-person teams.  Cash prizes will be awarded.  Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with trivia beginning at 7:00 p.m.  To reserve a table call Sharon May at 935-2611 or Margaret Brady at 935-2264.
