Congratulations to B.O.S.S. (Boosters of School Sports). On Friday, February 2nd they hosted the final of three special nights during Valmeyer High School Boys Basketball games. During these events they honored athletes of past decades. This past Friday evening the VHS Baseball teams of 1971 and 1977 were honored for their Regional Championships during those two years. Many members of both teams were in attendance to receive recognition for their accomplishments and their donations to the rich and colorful history of VHS. Many positive comments were received from those who attended all three of these special events. Thanks to the members of this organization for their efforts.
A MESSAGE FROM VALMEYER SCHOOL - - - - - - - Valmeyer is a unique school district in many aspects, and last week was no exception. It made history once more. After volunteering to take part in an External Review, C.U.S.D. #3 was the first district in the State of Illinois to participate in a dual External Quality Assurance Review Visit. Two teams of educators from the state convened on the district for an K-8 and high school review visit simultaneously. The teams observed in classrooms, shadowed students, reviewed a great deal of student work, interviewed students, teachers, staff, board members, parents and community members. They learned of the many exemplary things going on in the district and community. An exit conference was held on Friday, January 26. The review teams told the story of Valmeyer CUSD #3 as seen through their eyes during their visit. Some of the positive things noted included: (1) a variety of teaching methods is being used to incorporate higher level thinking skills, (2) several course offerings have been added to meet the academic needs of all students, (3) there are daily Fine Arts and Health programs for all grade levels, (4) the school has a strong academic and vocational program, (5) there is collaboration in curricular teams across grade levels, (6) the school is a clean, safe, pleasant environment conducive to learning, and (7) there is a strong partnership between the school and community. Reviewers were impressed that several community members referred to the district as "Our School". They praised the many positive things happening in the school and community. A final report will be delivered to the school district in about 4 weeks. It will then be presented to the school board at the March Board meeting and disseminated to the school and community.
